Re: [openstack-dev] [storyboard] Should New Projects Be Using Storyboard?

2017-10-05 Thread Kendall Nelson
Hello :)

Yes! We have already begun migrating projects. I am currently working on a
Rocky release goal to further the migration of projects to Storyboard.

There have been several blog posts we've shared with the dev list
previously if you want to check them out [1] [2] [3]

If you're interested in the actual migration process, we have documentation
here [4].

We actually did a summit talk about all this to :) [5]

Hope all this info helps clarify things!

There is the long-standing Infra spec at
http://specs.openstack.org/openstack-infra/infra-specs/specs/task-tracker.html
which is currently at phase 1 task 4. It was considered for a
possible community goal over the Queens cycle, but in the goals
session in Boston it was suggested to check back in Sydney and see
whether SB has reached sufficient critical mass.

The idea at this point is to at least make sure new projects know
it's an available option for them rather than directing them all
straight to LP. It's also becoming readily apparent that the earlier
decision to hold back migration for interested teams over concerns
of shared bug divergence is hurting adoption; therefore we may want
to consider allowing any team to migrate to SB independent of other
closely related projects who may not currently (or perhaps ever)
wish to do the same. However the expectation is that the Infra team
will not want to support integration with two task/defect trackers
indefinitely, and so at some point LP tie-ins to things like code
review and stats tracking are increasingly likely to simply be
removed rather than fixed if^H^Hwhen they break.

Not to hijack the thread but, we're moving projects to storyboard? The only
thing I can find about this is that the Watcher project considering switching
[1]. Is there a spec or something I can look at about this?

Re: [openstack-dev] [storyboard] Should New Projects Be Using Storyboard?

2017-10-03 Thread Kendall Nelson
Yes we definitely need to update these places to stop pointing new projects
to Launchpad. Luckily the last few I've seen created haven't all gone to
Launchpad. That being said, I have a work item to go through and update all
mentions of Launchpad to point to Storyboard instead.

If anyone sees other places that need updating please let myself or other
Storyboard members know in the #storyboard channel, or, if you have a few
spare min, feel free to update it yourself. We'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Mike for bringing attention to this!

[openstack-dev] [storyboard] Should New Projects Be Using Storyboard?

2017-10-03 Thread Mike Perez
I noticed that the project creator [1] and cookiecutter [2] promote using
launchpad. If we're migrating projects to storyboard today, should we stop
promoting launchpad for new projects?
