Magnum is in both Debian Sid (version 1.0.0~b1, and it's been months
it's there...) and Experimental (version 1.1.0, aimed at Mitaka). So
it's just an apt-get install away... :)

So far, I had zero feedback from users. Please be my guess, and let me
know what works and what doesn't.

Cheers,

FWIW the folks from CERN had been working with us on this, the relevant
tracking bugs are here:

openstack-magnum: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1292794
python-magnumclient: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1286772

I just bumped the first request as I think it is good to go but someone missed
setting a flag to initiate the next step of the process.

Thanks,

Steve

2016-02-17 Thread Hongbin Lu
Mike,

I am sorry that it is currently lack of installation guide for Magnum. I
have created a blueprint [1] for creating one. It will be picked up if
someone interests to work on that.

If you need a guide right away, maybe you could reference this one [2].
This guide is not targeting for operators, but it might inspire the
installation steps.

Just too keep track of this, has there been any progress? Is there any

at the last Magnum midcycle to improve this documentation in the Mitaka release

As for the the publickey url error. This is because magnum is defaulting to expecting
that barbican is provided by the cloud. You can change the key credential storage to
local and only get a warning that local is for "testing purposes only". But it
did work, or at least it got past that error.

Nova issues a similar warning [1] but it doesn't default to assuming you
have Barbican available and configured as your key manager. Maybe Magnum
should be changed to have a more sane default.

Since we're doing so much talk about Magnum in Keynotes for the Tokyo OpenStack
summit, and there are install confusion, we should probably work on that.
I have raised this in the next meeting [1], which I will bring up this thread
in.

Re: [Openstack-operators] How to install magnum?

2015-10-28 Thread Mike Smith
That would be great. I was so excited for magnum after the last summit, but
had the following obstacles:

- The installation/configuration is very devstack-specific.
- Magnum isn’t yet packaged for RDO.

Eventually one of the Magnum team members pointed me to some RPMs that he built
and I was able to use those to get things installed.

As a side note, I’m still very interested in Magnum, had to set it aside for
now because the heat template used by magnum required an external network,
which is something our specific implementation doesn’t use.

Yep, this would be awesome. It's neat to see the integrations with
DevStack, but getting it to work in a "prod" environment seems confusing
at best.

2015-10-27 Thread TAO ZHOU
I am trying to do the same thing.
I have already get magnum-api & magnum-conductor up and running and I can
run simple commands like 'magnum bay-list'
It always fail to create a bay.

The log generates the error below:

It seems that magnum depends on barbican for authentication.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yep, this would be awesome. It's neat to see the integrations with
DevStack, but getting it to work in a "prod" environment seems confusing
at best.

I've attempted a couple times now, and failed each one. I'm more then
willing to help debug/QA the docs that yall decide to put together.
