Re: [openthinclient-user] General questions

2013-06-19 Thread Luis R. Barahona
Hi,

From what I can tell - it sounds like your environment would be suitable
for OTC.

It is possible to put the OTC manager on your DC, however, I wouldn't
recommend it. It would be better if you put it on your terminal server.

Two other things to consider - How much RAM do those older computers have
and what kind of processor? I didn't have much success with the client on
older computers.

Also, will you be perfomring PXE boot across subnets? If so, you will need
to add an IP helper address that points to the OTC server.

 Hello,

 i am new to openthinclient.

In my school we have some thinclients using thinstation 2.2. Now i think
about changing to openthinclient (Thinstation 5.1 seems to be to
 difficult for me.)

We have a windows 2003 Server as DC with AD and DHCP and a windows 2003
 server as terminal server.
 The thinclients are old computers.

The thinclients should build autimaticly a RDP Connection to the
 terminalserver.

 My first questions:

 Is openthinclient right for me?
Where do I install the openthinclient Manager? Can it be run on the
 Terminalserver?

 Thanks,

Hi Jody,

It will probably depend on the TFTP server you are using. Please let us
know.

My question is, how does one setup an existing PXE menu on an existing

server there and just do soft links?

 Thanks,

 Hi

As i remember you should not set anything. Just configure your dhcp server
to provide ip settings. OTC will handle pxe request by his self.

Try to deactivate every kind of firewall. And OTC and dhcp must not be on
 the same Server.

I think you are confused about which option you need to set in dhcp.

Option 66 will contain the ip or FQDN of your OTC Server

Option 67 will contain the name of your bootfile

For OTC you only need to set option 66. Have you done this?

What device is running DHCP?

You need to let it know with option 60 where to your otc server is.

openthiclient manager should recognise the pxe machine.

i have a question where are the other nodes like clients, etcc..?

Thank you.

[openthinclient-user] Dual monitors with RDP

2013-05-06 Thread Luis R. Barahona
Hi Folks,

I have a Windows Server 2008 RDS server that my thin clients are connecting
to.

I would like to be able to use dual monitors for the RDP session.

I tried adding the /multimon and /span parameter to the RDP application
parameters, but that did not work.

Has anyone had success with this type of set up?

Is there anyway to envoke the /multimon parameter using the RDP application
within OTC?

Is twinview with NVIDEA the only way to get dual monitors to work?
