Re: [openthinclient-user] network problem with r8169 and localboot

2014-04-01 Thread Stefan Vater
Hello Steffen, hello list,

i took a look at consus (install version, not VM), but compared to V1 there
are missing some things, like local install, disable (not only hide) the
bar at the top.

I don't need exactly something developed, just want the nic to run
(workaround is ok, as when it's workíng it results in an image for this one
hardware type, which will be used).

Maybe someone did already some modifications to the initrd to solve such
problems

Thanks,
Stefan
 .

If i boot after installing with localinstall, the mashine hangs when trying
to bring up the NIC (Realtek r8169).
 Error messages:

I attached 2 pics: one if it fails with localboot, the other from a

Hi,

as far as i see the problem is the gma3000, which is not supported in
current OTC version.
So the VESA driver is used and this resolution is not supported by this driver.

I have the same problem in grün.

I've already asked here an in the developer list, if it is possible to
include a newer driver from xorg, but no response/solution 'till now.

[openthinclient-user] intel 965 chipset

2011-07-07 Thread Stefan Vater
Hi All,

i've problems with a PC with a intel 965 chipset (Q965 Integrated
Graphics Controller).

I'm trying to get a 1920x1200 resolution on an 24 inch screen.
When i try the VESA driver (selected with autodetect) the max
resolution is 1600x1200.
When using the intel driver X doesn't recognize the graphics chip.

The Xorg.log also doesn't list this chip:

(II) I810: Driver for Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets: i810, i810-dc100,
i810e, i815, i830M, 845G, 852GM/855GM, 865G, 915G, E7221 (i915),
915GM, 945G, 945GM, 945GME

Is it possible to get the resolution with the VESA driver or do i need
an updated version (or driver?) for the X-Server.

Thanks for your help!

Stefan

[openthinclient-user] Branch Office install?

2010-11-09 Thread stefan vater
Hi!

I'd like to discuss, what would be the best way to run otc in remote offices.
we have some of them, which are connected with 1 mbit leased lines.

is it a good idea to use them just like LAN clients?

i discovered, that it is possible to install to hd, but i'm afraid the
installation is too big to run over the WAN network.
also i'm not sure what happens, if there are updates. complete
reinstall of the client? has this to be manually triggered by users?

users are not experts, so i can't let them do any tasks.

what options do i have to work with otc on PCs in remote offices?

any input is welcome!

stefan
