[Openvas-discuss] OpenVAS Wiki not linked from openvas.org

2017-09-14 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Hello,

the wiki.openvas.org site appears really outdated and unmaintained,
so we decided not to link it anymore from the openvas.org site.

We are planning to modernize all of the community infrastructure anyway.

All the best

Hi list,

I have an account on the wiki and was looking to add a page, but it doesn't
appear that I can make edits, unless I am missing a really obvious button.

can someone help with this?

 Hello OpenVAS Users,

the recently started OpenVAS Wiki is now linked from the OpenVAS Website
 from Menu Support.

Anyone who likes to contribute to OpenVAS documentation is welcome
to add to the wiki so that we quickly can fill it with the essentials.

Ideally, a documentation group is formed that takes care of the wiki
so that spam, nonsense and unfriendly language is kept out of
the wiki. Content quality/consistency control would be nice as well.

Hope it works out well and after all it is up to the Community
to create a value for everyone here.

 All the best

Yes, you need to be agreed to edit the wiki. Send me your nickname and
I'll put you in the group. After, feel free to explain that on the main
page !

If you want to run OpenVAS on etch, the best you could do is pobably
try to recompile the Debian packages from unstable on etch. That
may cause some probalems, but should produce packages at the end.

Do you already have a vmware image going? Do you still have your notes on
getting it running on etch? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

 Chris,

I don't have the VMware image, but I can get an OpenVAS image going in
my spare time at work today. I have a server you can download the
image from as well, worst case.

Thanks!

That would probably help proliferate the software, however, I would
prefer images to Free virtualisation software...

Regards,

Joey

The debian packages are too old, as they are still version 1.0.

I recommend to use version 2.0, as there are significant changes made oppsite
to version 1.0.

Additionally, I compiled it fine on 32-bit debian-i386 (testing) and
debian-amd64 (sid) - both, server and clients!

Cheers

Hans

I glanced at the previous version, downloaded the source, and then saw it
complaining about all the packages and I decided I didn't have enough time
to battle it at that point.
