Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] ETSI NFV Call for Experts on OpenStack vs IFA00[56] gap analyzis

2017-01-10 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

Exactly. We limit OpenStack to the projects with tc:approved-release tag and
the functionality should be accessible via a NB API (not an API designed for
communication between OpenStack components).

Ok. If IFA005/IFA006 is not defined as the API interface syntax, just for
functionality description, I think the gap is not so huge.

So only need to check for each interface defined in IFA005/IFA006 whether this
interface's function could be supported by OpenStack.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick analyzis.
The target of the current call for experts is only to identify the gaps. We are
not looking to one-to-one match for each information element and each operation
of IFA005 and 006 but looking for the same functionality provided by OpenStack.

Hello,

I go through the IFA 005 & IFA 006. The difference between API defined in IFA
005/IFA 006 and OpenStack API is very huge, it seems that there must be some
wrapper layer above OpenStack API.

IFA00[56] gap analyzis
Hi,

Now I resend it to correct an actual mistake in my original mail.

The deadline for application is 26th of January.

There is an effort in ETSI NFV to identify the gaps between the specified VIM
NB API-s and the OpenStack NB API-s (what called TST003). We, who are working
on this item realized that we need to involve external expertise to have the
desired progress of the work.
ETSI NFV decided to start a task force and call for external experts. The task
is to analyze the API-s described in IFA005 and IFA006 and point out the gaps
compared to the OpenStack API-s (Closing the gaps either on NFV or in OpenStack
side is not in the scope of the work).
I'm sending this mail to you to draw your attention to this possibility as
experts in the OPNFV community have the right mix of knowledge for an applicant.

The deadline for application is 2017.01.26. Work starts in March and results
should be delivered by August.
More details are here:
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings/TSC?preview=/2925933/8687963/CL16_3343r1%20Clean%20-%20Call%20for%20Expertise%20-%20Identification%20of%20Gaps%20between%20docx

In case of any questions please mail or irc (csatari on freenode) me.

2017-01-10 Thread Margaret Chiosi
Folks:
Sounds like ONS may be the best time for us to do F2F vs Openstack in
Atlanta next month.
Let me know which conferences you will be attending to see if we can get a
quorum at one of these:
1. Openstack Atlanta, Feb
2. Openstack Boston, May?
3. ONS Santa Clara, April
4. Layer 123 Santa Clara, April
4. Others?

In case you weren't on the call this morning, the TSC approved the proposed
schedule slip. I will be updating the schedule on the Danube release page
this week. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [Fuel] Danube Status - ready to test in labs?

2017-01-10 Thread SULLIVAN, BRYAN L
Thanks for the link. I do look at the Jenkins status for high-level info, but
it’s hard to find out the things I need from that, which are, to start related
to how a developer deploys a simple fuel-based scenario (e.g. os-nosdn-nonha)
in the lab

- What has changed since
http://artifacts.opnfv.org/fuel/colorado/3.0/docs/installationprocedure/index.html
(in general are there any draft Danube docs yet)

- Is booting the fuel ISO the only option, or as with other installers
can we build/deploy on the fly with a simple bash script (deploy.sh) after
cloning the repo

- If booting the fuel ISO is the only option, what are the
requirements for the jumphost, e.g. can this be done in a virt-manager VM (and
how) or does it need to be bare metal, what are the host requirements (minimum)
for the jumphost, etc

- How is virtual deployment of the fuel master achieved (the install
doc above does not specify the details) – it’s not clear if this is different
from booting the fuel ISO in a VM

- If supported, what are the minimum requirements for virtual deploy

- What are the minimum requirements for bare metal lab servers, e.g.
as I have been using will this work

o Three Intel NUC i7 machines with two NICs, wake-on-lan + PXE boot (no
IPMI), 16GB memory

Hi Bryan,

indeed IRC channel mentioned on our wiki page was wrong, I have updated wiki
page - our actively used IRC channel is #opnfv-fuel.

You can track our CI by the following link:
http://build.opnfv.org/ci/view/fuel/ which has corresponding jobs for master
which is Denube right now.

some info at https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/fuel/Fuel+Opnfv but it seems that
the irc channel referenced (opnfv-bgs) has been idle for a while, so that’s
clearly not where the OPNFV Fuel team hangs out.

But the basic question is whether Fuel is ready for Danube testing, e.g. has
been updated to OpenStack Newton. The Copper project would like to help in the
testing of Congress, and for Models and VES I want to start
developing/verifying support under Fuel-based installs.

Please let me know where you guys hang out on IRC, Slack, Trello, or whatever,
if we can start testing Fuel for Danube yet, and how to track the status of
Fuel for Danube overall.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [Fuel9.0][vlan] Fuel9.0 deployment failing with br-aux not found

2017-01-10 Thread Michael Polenchuk
Hi Veena,

In case of DPDK enabled the br-aux bridge ain't created on compute nodes
since physical(dpdk) interface is being connected directly to br-prv ovs
bridge.

I guess this case (ODL + OVS/DPDK) ain't supported yet.
Please turn off "install dpdk" option and try it out.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] ETSI NFV Call for Experts on OpenStack vs IFA00[56] gap analyzis

2017-01-10 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)

Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] ETSI NFV Call for Experts on OpenStack vs
