[opnfv-tech-discuss] OPNFV Booth & Demo Volunteers Needed at ONS

2017-03-21 Thread Brandon Wick
OPNFV Technical Community:

For those that will be at ONS, we hope you're planning to engage with the
OPNFV community throughout the week. You can learn more about all the OPNFV
activities here.

In the exhibit hall, OPNFV will have presence in two places -- the Linux
Foundation Networking Projects Pavilion and the S3 Demo Area. During the
showcase hours, we need volunteers from the community to sign up for shifts
to help represent OPNFV in both these places.

   - *Tuesday, April 4: *10:00am - 4:20pm

   - *Wednesday, April 5: *10:00am - 4:20pm

   - *Thursday, April 6: *10:00am - 1:40pm

*LF Networking Projects Pavilion:*
OPNFV will be a part of the LF Networking Projects Pavilion along with
several other OPNFV Projects (ODL, FD.io, ONAP, etc). We would like to have
at least one representative from the OPNFV community (two would be better)
in the booth at all times to answer questions about OPNFV, hand out
literature, etc. If you can spend some time in the pavilion, please sign up
on the etherpad.

*S3 Demo Area:*
In the S3 Demo Area, we will be showing the NEW Pharos Dashboard and Pharos
Lab-as-a-Service (LaaS) demo. You can read the full description here
.
Jack Morgan is creating the demo and will spend most of his time here, but
he will need take some breaks. If you are interested in manning the S3 Demo
station, sign up on the etherpad and have Jack run you through it before
your shift.

*Sign Up Here on the Volunteer
Etherpad: https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/ONS_Volunteers
*

If you still need a pass for ONS, you can register here

with
the following discount code for $880 off the attendee pass price: OPNFVONS

[opnfv-tech-discuss] 答复: [mano-wg] Reviewing OPNFV Release E MANO Build and Test options and usecases Meeting#23

2017-03-21 Thread Fu Qiao
Hi, Prakash. Is it possible to add the HA API discussion on the agenda for
this week’s meeting?

I have send emails to the MANO WG list about this including the commit
links. We consider this as very important to coordinate with the MANO WG,
making sure the API we proposed and worked on make sense to MANO.

Thank you so much!

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] REMINDER: One Week Left to Submit to OPNFV Summit CFP

2017-03-21 Thread Brandon Wick
Hello Jiang,

Thanks for your question. Please send any future questions to
eve...@opnfv.org.

The Design Summit takes place June 12-13 and is where the OPNFV technical
community will convene to continue working on the E-Release and have
plenary sessions and project breakouts. It is very focused on the OPNFV
platform. The Summit Conference takes place Jun 14-15 and is for the wider
NFV ecosystem, featuring keynotes, breakout sessions, a technology
showcase, networking opportunities, etc. This is where the the breakouts
will be structured into the six tracks. Panels consist of 4 or more
speakers in a single session. When in doubt, we recommend you submit for
the Summit conference as a breakout session. From there, our track chairs
will be able to make further recommendations as needed.

2017-03-21 Thread yunhong jiang
Hi, Brandon,
When I try to submit the CFP, I noticed there are two types of the
session. One is for Design Summit session and one is for OPNFV
Summit session. Are there any key differences of these two? I
attended the Openstack summit before and they are quite different
there.

Also on the Design Summit session, there are two formats called
break out session and panel discussion. What's the difference of
them? How should I decide which format should my session be?

Hope your guide on this, thanks!

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [release][danube] K8 scenario testing on Joid

2017-03-21 Thread David McBride
This is a follow-up to a conversation on IRC (opnfv-release) earlier today.

When asked about disabling Functest and Yardstick for the new K8 scenarios
on Joid, I agreed. My reasoning was that I didn't want to delay release of
new and potentially interesting scenarios. I also know that functest and
yardstick testing is not always applicable to every feature or
configuration. In addition, I was aware that the K8 scenarios had
project-specific testing.

My initial thought was that the disabled tests would be documented in the
release notes and that the project would be required to contribute tests to
functest and yardstick for the following release.

Subsequently, after some discussion, I realized that I had made a mistake
and that this is something that the test working group should weigh in on,
at a minimum.

Therefore, please disregard my earlier direction about disabling the
tests. The tests are still required for all scenarios until the test
working group and/or the TSC indicate otherwise.

Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry for the confusion.

David

Just one more thing.

Fuel plugin support 2 odl version as below. I did notice error you have
mentioned with 5.0.0-1 but not with 5.2.0-1 and I do see the issue like
VM's not reachable even with 5.2.0.1

   - 5.0.0-1
   - 5.2.0-1

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [fuel][plugins][odl] SFC agent for SFs/SFFs/Classifiers creation

2017-03-21 Thread Babu Kothandaraman
Hi All,

Sorry for bombarding with a lot of questions, I'm pretty new to Openstack and
OPNFV :).

The openstack setup from the scenario "os-odl_l2-sfc-noha". The router created
for admin_floating_net network with the subnet 172.16.0.0/24, named router04
has two interfaces one of which is external gateway and it status is always
down. The external gateway port has VIF TYPE as binding failed. Below I have
added the neutron logs.

The neutron logs has the following error message:

2017-03-16 15:52:34.948 16091 ERROR networking_odl.ml2.network_topology
[req-6aeec757-5ee0-48ce-b800-8389a558b3bc - - - - -] Unable to bind port

valid VIF types: vhostuser, ovs
$510-da5b-4944-9659-6c8a3ddb0b0d', 'network_type': u'flat'}]

But the beginning of the neutron log it says:

2017-03-16 15:37:37.133 14132 INFO neutron.manager [-] Loading core plugin:
neutron.plugins.ml2.plugin.Ml2Plugin
2017-03-16 15:37:37.303 14132 INFO neutron.plugins.ml2.managers [-] Configured
type driver names: ['local', 'flat', 'vlan', 'gre', 'vxlan']

2017-03-16 15:37:37.313 14132 INFO neutron.plugins.ml2.drivers.type_local [-]

2017-03-16 15:37:37.317 14132 INFO neutron.plugins.ml2.managers [-] Loaded type

2017-03-16 15:37:37.317 14132 INFO neutron.plugins.ml2.managers [-] Registered
types: ['flat', 'vlan', 'local', 'gre', 'vxlan']

By which I assume Opendaylight ML2 plugin supports flat type network.

Because of this issue, I'm not able to reach the VM's created as part of this
network and my functest fails too. Anyone else faced the same issue? Any
pointers regarding this would be quite helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Babu

Hello Babu,

Yes, that is the right place. Some sub-tests are still failing though. The
deadline to have them working in next Friday 24th of March. However, try to
launch them because everything should be working (except you will get a message
that some sub-tests fail).

Thanks for your prompt reply, Sorry about that, we did actually deploy
"os-odl_l2-sfc-noha" scenario. We were trying the func test in
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/sfc/Functest+SFC-ODL+-+Test+1 to test the
deployment. But we are not sure if this is the right one to follow according to
the discussion above. Is this the right guide to follow for testing the
deployment?

Babu,

I think it would be better to instead deploy OPNFV Colorado with the
"os-odl_l2-sfc-noha" scenario. This document should help guide you through the
installation:

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [Infra] Infra WG Meeting Minutes - March 20th

2017-03-21 Thread Fatih Degirmenci
March 20th

Minutes:
(link)

1. CD for FDS

oA prototype will be set up in order to deploy FDS using the latest
versions of upstream projects. (fd.io and ODL)

ofd.io already provides apt/yum repos so the artifacts can be fetched in
natural way based on the underlying distro.

oODL started working on mini-ODL release based on the features used by
OPNFV in order to improve the Autorelease.

oOPNFV passed initial list of features to ODL and work is in
progress.

oScenario Desription File (SDF) can help choose which versions of the
components to use based on the scenario and fits into this well.

oThe puppet modules provided by fd.io and
ODL are used by Apex and
they can be reused in this context after some minor adjustments.

oSeparate CI pipelines for Apex/FDS scenario can be created in order to
keep the impact on ongoing work at minimum.

2. AoB

Managing securedlab

§ securedlab should be treated like any other repo/project with proper reviews
and possibly verification of POD Descriptor Files against template.

§ The existing files that describe the PODs will be phased out over time
depending on how fast lab owners can create the files for their PODs and
installers adjust accordingly.

Event Planning

§ OPNFV Summit CFP closes on March 27th. Infra PTLs to come up with session
proposals.

§ OPNFV Hackfest topics are on Hackfest Planning
Wiki.

Issues with LF POD4 & POD5

§ Yolanda is having issues with POD4/POD5 IPMI/RMM. Jack
Morgan and Rudy Grigar
III will look into this and contact
Yolanda. This is a blocker for XCI baremetal work.

Action Items:

· NEW: Troubleshoot issues with LF POD4 and POD5 and contact Yolanda
for verification, Jack Morgan, Rudy
Grigar III

· NEW: Prepare proposals for OPNFV Summit, Ulrich
Kleber, Jack
Morgan, Fatih
Degirmenci

· Collect centralized resource requirements for OPNFV as part of LF
Infra Collab/Lab workstream, Aric
Gardner, Rudy Grigar
III, Jack
Morgan, Fatih
Degirmenci

oJack Morgan met with Eric from
LF and started working on this. It will be reported to Infra Collab Team.

· Analyze our usage of Docker Hub and come up with a proposal that
takes different options into account, Aric
Gardner, julien
zhang

oAric Gardner started working on
this. It can be incorporated into Infra Collab Lab workstream.

· Start capturing ideas/issues with moving installers into VMs on OPNFV
POD Jumphosts for community feedback, Dan
Radez, Fatih
Degirmenci

· CLOSED: Follow up with JOID project on hardware resources request for
Europe or North American based POD Jack
Morgan

Ongoing Items:

· Document scenario to POD mapping via the Scenario
Infrastructure page
Ulrich Kleber

· Document how to control commit gating in CI evolution Fatih
Degirmenci

· Document how to build an OPNFV Pharos lab Jack
Morgan

· Add links in the table for all the static checking tools Jingbo
Hao

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfvdocs] docs-verify-rtd-danube fails

2017-03-21 Thread Shubham Rathi
I think the patch to be cherry picked is this: https://gerrit.opnfv.org
/gerrit/#/c/31093/
In the danube branch, openretriever is off the .gitmodules file but not
from opnfvdocs/docs/submodules/ which is causing the build to fail.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfvdocs] docs-verify-rtd-danube fails

2017-03-21 Thread Yujun Zhang (ZTE)
https://build.opnfv.org/ci/job/docs-verify-rtd-danube/ seems failing since
yesterday evening and it is currently blocking all the document
modification patch sets in projects, e.g.
https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/31133/

It should have been resolved by https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/31107/ on
master branch. Need some committer to cherry-pick it to stable/danube and
resolve the merge conflict.

This is indeed tragic and shocking news. Ray was always very passionate about
OPNFV, and his passing is untimely and very sad.

Shocking. And very Sad. Wow. Ray’s contributions to open source will be
remembered as will his personality- enjoyed talking to him the few times we

Hello,

we just have received the sad news that our former colleague Ray Nugent was
killed in an automobile accident on Saturday.

Ray has worked in Huawei’s OPNFV team and I am sure many of you remember him
well, so I wanted to share.

Ray had a very rich experience from many open source projects and used that to
help OPNFV be what it is today.

Best,

Uli
