Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Danube release community awards

2017-04-17 Thread Raymond Paik
All,

I have not received a lot of nominations for the Community Awards for the
Danube release. So far, internship is the only category where I have more
nominees than awards and I didn't receive any nomination for "Community
Support/Leadership."

I'm sure my mistake on the nomination due date (I originally wrote May 17th
when I meant APRIL 17th) didn't help, but I think another issue was the
Easter holidays. So I'd like to extend the nomination period to Friday
this week (April 21st). Could you send in your nominations by 5pm Pacific
Time on April 21st?

Thanks,

Ray

[opnfv-tech-discuss] OPNFV at OpenStack

2017-04-17 Thread Raymond Paik
All,

For many of you that will be attending OpenStack Summit in Boston, I wanted
to give you a heads-up on a few items.

First, we will have a room available on Tuesday (May 9th) for
unconference/breakout sessions between 11:00 - 18:00. We have a pretty
large ballroom (~200 people capacity), so there should be plenty of room
for several meetings happening simultaneously. The MANO WG members already
have plans for a few sessions in the afternoon, so if others want to
schedule meetings/discussions please feel free to add your topics at
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/EVNT/OPNFV+at+OpenStack+Summit+-+Boston

OPNFV will also have a booth Monday-Thursday and we'd love to have
community members volunteer at the booth. You'll see the sign-up list at
the bottom of the wiki page, so I encourage people to sign-up for booth
duties (we'd like to see two volunteers for each slot)

Finally, you'll notice that we have an "Open Source Days" program on
Monday. This is mainly geared towards 'Stackers who are not as familiar
with OPNFV. However, we definitely welcome many of the
"experienced/seasoned" OPNFV community members to join us through out the
day

Thanks,

Ray

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] New project proposal: NFVbench

2017-04-17 Thread Frank Brockners (fbrockne)
Hi Trevor,

fully agreed. Let's discuss this in the proposal review during the technical
meeting on Thursday.
Are you coming to the hackfest next week?

Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank

I think that your proposal aligns with some of the stress testing concepts that
we have been developing in the Testing Working Group. Re. While VSPERF does not
utilize the full stack (with Open Stack), the test cases can provide a baseline
for any NFVI data-plane suite ... i.e. Throughput Tests, Packet and Frame Delay
Tests, Stream Performance Tests, Request/Response Performance Tests, Packet
Delay Tests, Scalability Tests, Control Path and Datapath Coupling Tests, CPU
and Memory Consumption Tests, Time to Establish Flows Tests, Noisy Neighbor
Tests. We should try to maintain consistency of methods/metrics form component
level tests to system level where possible. It will be good to discuss this
further.

Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] New project proposal: NFVbench

Hi OPNFV,

over the past few weeks we've distilled a proposals to create a toolkit to
allow for black-box performance testing of NFVI with a network focus:
NFVbench: https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/nfvbench/NFVbench+Project+Proposal

The NFVbench project is to develop a toolkit that allows developers,
integrators, testers and customers to measure and assess the L2/L3 forwarding
performance of an NFV-infrastructure solution stack (i.e. OPNFV scenario) using
a black-box approach.

We're hoping for a discussion in the technical community meeting on April/20,
and are also asking for an official TSC review post the technical community
review on May/2, so that NFVbench can participate in Euphrates. Consequently,
NFVbench asks for tentative inclusion into Euphrates.

Your thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks much, Frank, Carsten, Alec

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Danube release community awards

2017-04-17 Thread Julien
Hi Ray,

I would like to nominate Yujun Zhang(zhang.yuj...@zte.com.cn) for the award
of "code development". He has make a great achievement in Danube release.
His contribution is listed in the top 3[1].

I also want to nominate him for award of "Community support/leadership". He
leads QTIP project to release normally after absent in Colorado. He manage
to re-active the project to avoid to be archived in the community. He also
leads the cooperation with Doctor project in OPNFV and Vitrage project in
Openstack.
