Because the US Labor Day holiday conflict, and we probably don’t want to wait
for another two weeks. I’d like to propose that we have the second meeting in
the Tech-Discuss time slot on Sept 6, and then rejoin the Clover meeting time
afterwards.

Bin,
Is the 9/6 tech-discuss meeting slot open? Thanks.

Eddie Arrage will do an overview and demos to illustrate how OPNFV projects,
esp. testing projects, can adopt and support cloud native, and benefit from it,
and what we can do in achieving the community goals, including adapting the
current CI to be much more agile. It will be demo driven and hands on.

Wenjing

Two weeks from now is US Labor Day holiday... I spoke too soon before studying
the calendar.

That raises a couple of questions:
- Do we want to change the pattern and switch to Aug 27? then going bi-weekly
from there?
- Do people still want to stick with Mondays, which tend to have more holidays?

Stephen, can you send out a new meeting invite to update everyone's calendar,

Thanks for a lot of people joining this morning’s call. I’m very encouraged

I’ve created a wiki as a home to keep track of meeting agendas and minutes, and
general logistics information. It’s here:
https://wiki.opnfv.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=26837622
(I need some help in making the URL fall under the working group menu and a
more memorable URL…)

The WG scope and work items are also listed there, as approved by the TSC.

The participants in today’s call opted to reuse the existing Clover project
call time slot on Monday morning 6AM for the WG calls. You can find the details
in the above wiki link. @Stephen you may want to double check for me to make
sure it is correct.

The calls will be bi-weekly for now… until we see a clearer need to change
anything.

I’m thinking about roughly classifying the topics of the WG in 3 areas:

-Landscape: where our projects are, how they fit into overall cloud
native landscape, where we may improve. We ask all related projects introduce
what problems you are solving and how the project may fit into the overall
landscape.

-Functional: deliverables in projects, tracking status and
dependencies: current activities include how-to specs, infrastructure, and CD
process/toolchain

-New capabilities: what new capabilities we need for nfv/our customer
use cases that we don’t yet see upstream and how we should help solve them…

The agenda of the coming weeks will therefore follow this pattern. If you have
ideas, please reply to this thread.

The next call is Aug 20. Since it’s a short time from today, I would ask
@Stephen if he can introduce Clover and how it fits the “landscape” assuming
he’s OK with that. If others are also ready to do so, or want to bring other
topics, please also let us know. We’d like to build up a backlog of topics to
cover.

We will use [cnwg] for emails. Thanks.

"Joint Testing Activities" has now been integrated. If you would, please
take a few moments to review and provide feedback on just that section. To
repeat, we only need feedback on the section titled "Joint Testing
Activities". Please complete your review by Sept 7, 5 p.m. (PT).

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfv-tsc] [announce][election] Opening nominations for OPNFV Technical Steering Committee (TSC)

2018-08-29 Thread Mark Beierl
I’ll break the ice by nominating Emma Foley to the TSC.

Emma has been involved in a number of OPNFV projects and has demonstrated both
leadership and willingness to help others. My interactions with her in both
Yardstick and Barometer have shown that she is strong technically and seeks to
ensure both that she understands the subject and that her responses are
understood. She has also promoted OPNFV well in areas such as driving the
Yardstick NSB demo at OpenStack Vancouver. Her skills, personality and passion
for OPNFV would be a great addition to the TSC.

Nominations close Sept 7.  Thanks.

Team,

Today, we begin nominations for a new TSC, consisting of 15 members, in
accordance with the Community Election
Procedures.
Individuals who are eligible to both vote and run for a TSC position are those
with 20 or more contributions on this list of active
contributors.
  Before nominating someone, please consult the list and verify that the
individual has 20 or more contributions. You may find a schedule of election
activities
here.

PTL Input to the Active Contributor List
Note that the election procedures have a provision for adding and individual to
the active contributor list, who has less than 20 contributions, yet who has
make significant contributions to the OPNFV community. Per the election
procedure:

PTLs have an input on the "active contributor list" compiled over a 2-week
review period (with a view that this step primarily targets at making sure
qualified people that haven't been identified via the metric get added to the
list)
I am working with the TSC to define a specific process for this situation. In
the mean time, if you are a PTL, and you would like to add someone to the
active contributor list, please contact me directly with the name and a brief
statement about why they should be included on the list. Note that this action
simply adds them to the active contributor list, they still must be nominated,
separately. Also, note that the 2-week review period for the active
contributor list, cited in the election procedure, ends on Aug 31.

Nomination procedure

  1. You may nominate yourself, or someone else.

 * Remember that both you and the person nominated must be on the active
contributor
list with
20 or more contributions.
 * If you nominate someone else, I will confirm with that person that
they accept the nomination.

  1. Announce the nomination with a "reply all" to this email prior to 5 p.m.
(PT), Sept 7.
  2. Please include the following information:

 *   Name of the nominee
 *   The nominee's organization
 * A brief statement about the nominees qualifications and contributions
to the OPNFV community.

  1. Nominations close at 5 p.m. (PT) on Sept 7. See the entire election
schedule
here.
As nominees are accepted, I will post the nominee information on this
page.

Thank you for your participation in this important activity for the OPNFV
community. Please let me know if you have any questions.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] Akraino wiki page

2018-08-29 Thread Tina Tsou
Dear all,

At today’s Edge Cloud meeting, Qiao Fu asked me to send Akraino wiki page to
this email list. Here you go.

https://wiki.akraino.org/plugins/servlet/mobile?contentId=327703#content/view/327703

Welcome to the Akraino Wiki

Akraino Edge Stack is an open source software stack that improves the state of
edge cloud infrastructure for carrier, provider, and IoT networks.

Akraino Edge Stack offers new levels of flexibility to scale edge cloud
services quickly, to maximize the applications or subscribers supported on each
server, and to help ensure the reliability of systems that must be up at all
times.

Akraino Edge Stack also provides processing power closer to endpoint customer
devices to meet application latency requirements of less than ~20 milliseconds.

This open source software stack intend to provide critical infrastructure to:

  *   Enable near real-time processing
  *   Reduce latency
  *   Improve availability
  *   Lower operational overhead
  *   Provide scalability
  *   Address security needs
  *   Improve fault management

Akraino Edge stack community is focused on Edge APIs, Middleware, Software
Development Kits (SDKs) and will allow for cross-platform interoperability with

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [announce][election] Opening nominations for OPNFV Technical Steering Committee (TSC)

2018-08-29 Thread David McBride
Team,

see a single nomination. Someone needs to break the ice and get this
started. Nominations close Sept 7. Thanks.

David
