This is all possible, and in fact, largely required. However, contrary to the
requirement, many providers do not allow their customers to do this.

If you poke around whois using IP address from small hosting companies
you'll find a few examples of properly swipped delegations. Say a /16 farming
out a /22 to the hoster.

You can buy your own CIDR blocks straight from the RIR's just like any ISP
can. But it's not cheap, and you are pretty much required to be well
steeped in the tech and also already in business as a sizable ISP/hoster.

yes, as Timo already pointed out, my own Ripe assignment does the trick.
Authorities treat me like an isp.

Own Ripe assigment would be great but how to get that? My local ISP only
offers to add some of my companys information to the top of the existing
Ripe-data.

Do a whois 62.241.236.0, the data existing there would stay but my
companys data would be above it. Not sure if that's so good idea, I'd
like it to only show my own information and nothing from my ISP.

Smarter ISPs will sub-allocate the range to the customer. This puts the
customer in charge of their abuse complaints, rather than the ISP who
doesn't really want to deal with the abuse complaints at all.

hello,

blutmagie exit node has replaced its former socket 775 core2 duo E8600
cpu by a socket 775 core2 quad Q9650. Furthermore memory is upgraded
from 4 to 8 GB. Instead of one heavily loaded core which probably has
been bad for latency there are now four moderately loaded tor processes
running. Blutmagie, blutmagie2, blutmagie3, and blutmagie4 are announced
as one family and each core runs safely below 100% cpu load which is
hopefully good for latency ;-) BandwidthRate each process is set to 6000 KB.

I've been wondering this for a long time. How do you keep your exit node
running without interference from ISP / local police etc.? Especially
when it's the largest exit node.

I've had two exit-nodes which both we're closed, first by KRP (National
Criminal Police, finnish) and had all my hardware taken by cops (2008)
and second one was closed by ISP (2010) even I had informed them about
Tor-exit and asked if it was okay to run exit node. It was until they
got first abuse-notices, then they shut the node down. I was able to run
it about six days.

I was able to get off the contract because ISP broke their promises.
