Collins, CO / Sunnyvale CA* *6+ Months contract* Client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide computer networking expertise in support of client services and missions. This includes but is not limited to network planning, architecture review, documenting, installation and support of many high-available environments. JOB DUTIES • Support the Corporate, Production, Research and Development network infrastructure including LAN/WAN/WLAN; ensuring stability, high availability, performance and security are a priority. • Implement and manage multiple Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, F5, Checkpoint, and TippingPoint Appliances. • Familiarity with Cloud Operations – Experience supporting Amazon and Azure web services desired. • Add, update and resolve support and change management tickets and update project records. • Support and troubleshoot the network infrastructure including hardware and software components. • Monitor throughput and performance; tune and upgrade components as required. • Lead the design and implementation of new network technologies within client core networks • Establish and maintain working relationships with customers, outside hardware, software and service providers. • Interact closely with other groups within the company and be responsible for providing training to network support groups. • Effectively communicate network planned or unplanned maintenance and activities with customers and other network team members. • Provide 24X7 on call support. QUALIFICATIONS • Proven ability installing and supporting a minimum of 3 mid-to-large high-availability network infrastructures. • Architecting and implementing network configurations and infrastructures for ASP or SSP business operations desirable. • Proven skills to assess, troubleshoot complex problems and situations and make sound decisions. (Layer-2, MSTP/STP, Routing, ACL troubleshooting experience required). • Must have excellent communications skills and ability to clearly articulate issues to US based customers and team members. Will frequently be interacting with customers, business partners, vendors and/or functional peer groups and will interact with senior management. • Ability to work cross functionally in a positive and supportive manner. • Ability to plan and communicate is required. Ability to mentor and work with other Systems Administrators and Network Engineers. • Ability to initiate and complete new projects with minimal direction and guidance, and conduct them through a project life cycle which includes requirements analysis, design, planning, evaluation, implementation, and formal presentations. • Ability to present technical information and convey knowledge to customers, peers and IT staff. EXPERIENCE • 8+ years experience in computing and communications with a core emphasis on data network installation and troubleshooting. (Must be able to demonstrate this experience). • 8+ years Layer-2 and Layer-3 experience on HP and Cisco switching and routing platforms. (Prefer CCIE certification) • 4 years Checkpoint firewall experience. • 1 year experience supporting Amazon or Azure Cloud Services • Must have 4+ year experience configuring TACACS+, Radius, Logging and SNMP on switch, routers and other network technologies. • Extensive security practices/technologies with VPN, proxies, firewalls, IDS, IPS, system hardening, and security policies and practices. • Extensive network knowledge with Layer-2, Layer-3, STP, PVST+, MSTP, GRE, L2TP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS and associated implementations and troubleshooting. • F5 Load Balancer experience desired. • Extensive server knowledge with Solaris and Linux (Red Hat, CentOS) • Extensive application network knowledge with HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, SFTP and others • Extensive network trouble-shooting experience with IPsec, TCP, and UDP based applications.
