*Sr. UNIX Technical Engineer* *Location: Minneapolis, MN*
*Duration: 6 – 12 months, starts as soon as possible* *No h1 !!!* Job Summary: Install, maintain, and provide 24x7 system support for UNIX system software and hardware with the primary focus on IBM AIX, Linux and Oracle Sun. Technical Engineer Senior role will analyze and evaluate customer requirements characterized by technical and analytical requirements. Strong collaboration with Security Administrators, Middleware Administrators, Capacity Planning & Monitoring, Service Desk, and Network Administrators when designing and implementing computer systems utilizing "state of the art" concepts, techniques and languages. Responsible for planning, developing, testing and documenting computer systems and follow up to ensure success of the UNIX environment. Key Accountabilities: 1. Administer the Unix AIX, power Linux and Oracle / Sun infrastructure. 2. Build and configure AIX/Linux servers on big iron, large scale environment running multiple LPAR’s. 3. Apply scheduled AIX and Solaris software maintenance. 4. Install and maintain various ISV products from EMC, CA, and others. 5. Manage migrations from older hardware / software to new. 6. Upgrade firmware during scheduled maintenance windows 7. Identify, automate, and script repeatable processes. 8. Maintain disaster recovery warm site environment. 9. Coordinate with vendor to replace failed hardware. 10. Create and update team documentation. 11. Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation. Qualifications Required Qualifications: 1. IBM Power 6/7/8 hardware experience 2. Solaris 8, 9, 10 experience 3. AIX virtualization experience in a dual VIO configuration 4. Experience with NIM, HMC, NPIV, vSCSI, and SEA etc. 5. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field and 3 years of experience to include leading UNIX activities, or 7 years of experience in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications: 1. IBM Systems Director experience 2. Experience with EMC VMAX and Powerpath 3. Experience using Veritas Volume Manager in a large SAN environment 4. Experience using Solaris Disk Suite / Volume Manager 5. Experience using Perl 6. Demonstrated ability to work independently 7. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate to all levels of the IT organization and correctly identify the needs of customers.
