Re: [EXP-00003: no storage definition found for segment]
hi Bachman, I wonder how you could have an index that is out of your schema, you mean you built it with another user? Anyway, the workaround you wrote would do it. did you try the command prompt for export instead of using the Gui at the server? I got used to command prompts than GUI tools on the server and they are great. here is the command for the export. "exp73 userid=username/password@connect_string file=your_file_name tables=your_table_name,another_table_name,...etc". I have used exp73 because you said you are using ORacle 7.3. I issue this command from the client (if you have installed on this client the designer 2000 tool). when importing: "imp73 userid=username/password@connect_string file=your_file_name from_user=the_old_user_name to_user=the_new_user_name" these are working very fine with me. Re: [Basic logon architecture for multiple apps in a db]
HI dba man, I made my own security system by making database users and giving them synonyms to access the owners objects, also I created public synonyms for the objects .Then I created roles and assigned them to menu items in the main menu and sub-menus.After creating the user (in a form I developed myself,)I made another form to give certain functions(forms) to different users, and in this form I grant the roles accordingly. If this solution seems ok with you,let me know,I 'll give you more tips and tricks. By the way,the system is secured and the customer is satisfied. re : Opinions on OLTP
hi dba , I went through the same problem here, where I reverse engineered a system with no relations or integrity constraints and it was hell, since I guessed the business rules and asked people from anywhere about the business of this system,I don't want to remember this period of my life. I 'm not depressing you,but it is really a very big effort. I remember the ERD when when printed it,it was like the islands,no single relation ship ever!!! good luck tortured dba Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com -- Author: MOHAMMAD AMER INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Network Services-- (858) 538-5051 FAX: (858) 538-5051 San Diego, California-- Public Internet access / Mailing Lists To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
