Problem with Database Link

2002-04-26 Thread Rakesh Banerjee
Hi Friends,
I am facing a problemin operating with database link.
One of the machine has Personal Oracle 8i installed. In the same machine the client of Oracle Enterprise 8i is also installed, whose server is installed on the Database server machine.
Now in the client machine, TNSNAMES.ORA files of both the enterprise client and that of personal is having the same entry of host string, i.e. the host name version is same for both the versions.
ADatabase link is created from the personal oracle for the oracle enterprise.
Now when the select statement is fired from Personal Oracle 8i fetching data from Oracle enterprise using the database link, it is giving TNS ERROR specifying OPERATION TIME OUT.
Can anybody help in solving the problem? Thanks in advance.

In Oracle 8.x you can pass in a INDEX BY Table, Varray, etc.

In Oracle 9i a procedure can accept a REF CURSOR as an input parameter.

HELP

Hi,

I am working with Oracle 8i version in our ERP applications. I have one
question regarding the backup of Oracle database. In the database I am
designing it is required to partition the database as per financial
year.Almost all the tables will be partitioned accordingly. I want to know
WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO TAKE THE BACKUP OF INDIVIDUAL PARTITIONS (i.e. OF
THE YEARWISE DATA). IF YES, THEN HOW IT CAN BE DONE. Waiting for your reply
at the earliest, as my design will be dependent on your feedback.

Hi,
Thanks for ur answer. Can u please help me in giving the code about how to
implement it, i.e. how to write the code specifying the particular
tablespace, because as the new financial year will appear, new tablespace
will be required. So how it can be managed to put the code in the DDL script
so that it assigns the tablespace automatically. Waiting for ur reply.

Put each partition into separate tablespace.
