Re: Web forms via PL/SQL

to produce a form via the pl-sql cartridge. Not a
problem- been
doing this kinda thing now for a couple of years.

Now I need to handle a INPUT TYPE=FILE tag in the form. Anyone know how to process
the result via
pl/sql or am I going to need to write a cgi script to handle it.

Markus - I'm not sure quite what you are asking, but since no one hasreplied,
I will make a stab and maybe you can clarify your objectives. SSOmeans
different things to different people. If you are a Microsoft shop, with
everybody's email on Outlook, then SSO means Microsoft ActiveDirectory.
I understand that Active Directory complies with the LDAPstandard and Oracle
also complies with that. If your Oracle users log intoaUnix system, I
understand that Active Directory can control security on theUnix server,
and then you can use the Unix security to control access toOracle. Does
this address the issues you are interested in?Dennis WilliamsDBALifetouch,

I've lost the thread

And I know this might be like cheating but check this document at

witch state this:

Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On
Oracle9i Application Server Single Sign-On was originally introduced in
Oracle9iAS Release 1 as a component of Oracle9iAS Portal.
In Oracle9iAS Release 2, Single Sign-On is an infrastructure component,
and does
not require Portal to be installed.

Though I must say I have not tried this my self.

Where do you call your procedure?
If you are running the code through IAS you (ias) will start more than one

Subject: nextval increments by 2 in pl/sql procedure

hello all,

I have a pl/sql procedure that selects the nextval from a sequence. The
problem is that it incrrements the sequence by 2 in a pl/sql procedure.

If I select the nextval from a sqlplus session, it works fine.

here is partial code that I am using.

PROCEDURE NEWTRANSACTION (v_storyid IN story.story_id%type,
   v_transid OUT
story_transaction.trans_id%type
) IS

BEGIN
  select story_transaction_seq.nextval into v_transid from dual;
.
END

for debugging purposes, I made that code look like...

PROCEDURE NEWTRANSACTION (v_storyid IN story.story_id%type,
   v_transid OUT
story_transaction.trans_id%type
) IS

v_value1 NUMBER; --debug code
v_value2 NUMBER; --debug code

BEGIN
select story_transaction_seq.currval into v_value1 from dual; --debug
code
  select story_transaction_seq.nextval into v_transid from dual;
select story_transaction_seq.currval into v_value2 from dual; --debug
code

.
END

when I ran this, v_value1 had a 200, v_transid had a 201, and v_value2
had
a 202

taking the debug code out and hitting that procedure with a web page will
increment the v_transid by 2 each refresh of the page.

am i doing something wrong? I can't find any information on the web related
to this issue.

TIA

Somebody knows how to translate PL/SQL to C or C++
(ROBOT, Software...)

Think that 9i has something of the kind ('native compiler') to boost the
performance of stored procedures. However, I don't think that you have
access
to the C code proper, as you can with Pro*C for instance. My understanding
(I have never tried it) is that it turns PL/SQL code into a dynamically
loadable
library, and the fact that C was involved is a pure coincidence. Could
have
been Cobol as well.

Parameter that are defined as IN _are_ copied in. To avoid this and pass

figure I can use sql loader to load the access tables into Oracle.
 But the
tough part is, how do we have the users access the data once it is in
Oracle? Since these are pretty static databases and we don't have the
resources in house to develop front end tools to retrieve the data, I am
wondering if there is a slick, user friendly tool out there can help us
with this. Toad partially satisfies this need but I think it is an

Re: Dba studio under 9i for Linux?

2001-11-18 Thread Torben Holm

Hi,

Use oemapp in $ORACLE_HOME/bin. oemapp requiers some parameter (that tells
witch program to start (DBA studio among others)). If you call it without
parameters it will tell you possible values.

regards

Can you tell me where can I find Dba Studio under Oracle 9i for Linux.
I've tried the different files in the Bin directory with no result.
