RE: Problem with Autotrace ?

2003-07-28 Thread Sarnowski, Chris

SQL-Plus is a little like the old interactive fiction games (text-based games, like
'Adventure' or 'Zork'). You only need to type enough of some words so that they are
unambiguous. See the SQL-Plus User's Guide, "command reference" (chapter 8 for 8.1.7,
chapter 13 for 9.2.0) for details.

I'm afraid I don't have anything add to the original question, I was going to suggest
the obvious "grant PLUSTRACE" but I reviewed the thread and saw that was already dealt
with.

Re: Problem with Autotrace - Is this a BUG ?

2003-07-28 Thread Tanel Poder
Hi

Hm, but try to query sys.v_$session sys.v_$sesstat and sys.v_$statname views
under cti user.
If it works, then enable event 10046 at level 4 before you set autotrace on
and check trace file (maybe there are some parse errors for example)

It could be a bug, or just change in behaviour when enabling tracing. Did
you actually try, that in 9.2.0.3 tracing works as expected?! Maybe in newer
version just no warning is shown...

2003-07-28 Thread Prem Khanna J
Tanel,

PLUSTRACE role was already granted to CTI.

it's the SAME user "CTI".
i tried it on a different machine.that's it.

when i upgraded oracle client 9.2.0.2 to 9.2.0.3,
it worked fine and i was able to get the statistics.

So,is this a bug or  ?

BTW,did u get my mail regarding "Index usage" which we were discussing earlier ?

Re: Problem with Autotrace - Is this a BUG ?

2003-07-28 Thread Tanel Poder
Are you actually getting the statistics back when you run a sql statement
now?

Normaly one had to run $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/plustrce.sql to get a role
named PLUSTRACE, which should have been granted to users doing sql tracing
with statistics.

The role has only following privs:

grant select on v_$sesstat to plustrace;
grant select on v_$statname to plustrace;
grant select on v_$session to plustrace;

Tanel.
