RE: Oracle - 32bit/64bit??

2002-07-22 Thread kkennedy

As someone mentioned on the list, not too recently, use the following command:
file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle

On my machine with 32 bit Oracle, I get:
/keg2/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin/oracle: ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC Version 1,
dynamically linked, not stripped

Re: Oracle 32bit / 64bit

2001-07-17 Thread Mitchell

Dear DBAs

How can I know my Oracle running on 32 or 64bit ?
I am considering change configuration of SGA. Currently OS is updated to 8g
memory on aix 4.3.3.
The limit is 2gb for 32bit ?

I only know if you switch from 32bit to 64bit or vice-a-versa, then you
also need to run UTLIRP.SQL script which recompiles all PL/SQL modules and
alters certain dictionary tables.

RE: Oracle 32bit / 64bit

2001-07-17 Thread Christopher Spence

Easiest way I know is do a select * from v$session, if the session id is 8
digits your running 32 bit, if it is 16 your running 64 bit.

Walking on water and developing software from a specification are easy if
both are frozen.

RE: Oracle 32bit / 64bit

2001-07-17 Thread Deshpande, Kirti

The SQL*Plus banner will display if using 64bit. If it does not say '64bit'
then it's 32bit.

Here is what I get with 9.0.1 64-bit on HP-UX:

Connected to:
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.0.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production

I do not have 8.1.x in 64-bit but I think the same thing would be true there
as well.

2001-07-17 Thread Kimberly Smith

Actually, as soon as you sign onto SQL*Plus is good enough.
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0, 64 bit - Production
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.1.0 - Production
Note the difference between the two.
