How about 'd*mn' or 'm*cr*s*ft' ?
No vowels there. :-)

This is definitely OT, but the Egyptians used to omit vowels from words,
perhaps because they thought vowels were breath.

The vowels happen to be... yi ah o ou w e h

In French, a e I o u - the order is scrambled -- I a o u e

Yahweh.

Interesting, no?

I heard a rumour:

Larry Ellison was sitting at a table during a presentation, got up, and
started talking about the next version of the database. As usual he was all
worked up about it, very excited about the new product.

The database's version number was going to be 8.1.

Well, he didn't actually say 8.1, instead he kept talking about 8i.

Then people asked him what the I stood for, and he responded: I is for
Internet. We are moving to the Internet platform...

And then the marketing people worked like mad to start marketing Oracle8.1.

Actually now that I think about it... the "i" in
Oracle8i actually stands for "i"diot proof. This is what Larry was

Actually, I think they are following a logical progression of english
vowels, i.e.,

A would indicate a pre-beta release - not suitable for marketing or

E is overused already with all the E-this.com and E-that.com's crashing

I is the current flavor in IT marketing. See HPUX 11i, Oracle 9i, etc,

Actually, I think they are following a logical progression of english
 vowels, i.e.,

A would indicate a pre-beta release - not suitable for marketing or
 Micro$oft quality,
E is overused already with all the E-this.com and E-that.com's crashing
 and burning,
I is the current flavor in IT marketing. See HPUX 11i, Oracle 9i, etc,
O will be for Oh my gods! How will I ever manage this monster! in the
 next generation of systems,
U and Y are yet to be determined... Or maybe combined into YU (why
 you)...

Its just a theory, I could be wrong.
