Hello Shuan

If I am not mistaken you need to run a configuration program before you can
start using OEM on 8.1.6.

Re: Management Server

2002-01-10 Thread orantdba

That is correct, you will need to run the enterprise Manager Configuration
Assistant. It will configure your oms to work with a OEM repository.

When you run the oms for the first time you will use username sysman password
oem_temp it
will prompt you to change this value.

break out the docs on oem.

you have to set it up but MOST not all of OEM stuff will run standalone
w/o a management server.

You need to install it. The Console talks to a Management Server, which
in turn manages the agents and other processes that monitor the database etc.

You really oughtta read the basic installation manual. Not much, just like
the first page or two might help.

RE: Management server??

2001-08-03 Thread Boivin, Patrice J

Oracle techs constantly encouraged me to upgrade the Oracle agents, I can
say from experience that it's probably the right thing to do - the newer
agents are easier to work with. Post 7.3 that is.

Once you create events or jobs, you should remember whenever you do work on
those databases or before you remove them: de-register ALL events and jobs
BEFORE you do any work on those target databases. Otherwise you will be
stuck with events that say deregistration failed and you won't be able to
remove them easily.

And the default password for sysman is oem_temp, write that down somewhere
because if you choose to rebuild your repository you will have to remember
that password...

Before you install the Management Server, I recommend you build an extra
tablespace for your repository.
