[Origami] George Rhoads

2021-08-03 Thread Donna Walcavage
I learned a George Rhoads elephant 5 or so years ago at the BOS Autumn meeting.

One of his kinetic sculptures is, or was, in the north building of the Port
Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street in NYC. Last I saw it, it was in need of
some restoration work but some parts were still working away.

Here’s my story of an unexpected encounter with George Rhoads:

[Origami] United to Fold (UnFold) gathering this Saturday

2021-08-03 Thread Gerardo @neorigami.com
 This Saturday, August 7, 11:00 - 13:00ish (New York) / 16:00 - 18:00ish
(London) / 20:30 - 22:30ish (New Delhi), there will be a United to Fold -
UnFold gathering. You are all welcome to join; it's through the Zoom
platform. Two volunteers will teach how to fold each a different simple or
intermediate model. After that, everyone is divided into smaller groups
just to meet people from different countries that share one common
interest: origami!

If you would like to attend, and you still aren't a part of the
Foldeas/UnFold email list, simply email me: *gerardo(a)neorigami.com

At the previous gathering, I, Gerardo G. from Colombia taught one of my own
action models, *2017 Revealer Concealer*:

Sad, even though at 95 years old he has lived a long life.
And yes, he did advanced origami in the 50's and 60's. I mentioned a tiny bit
of that history here:
