Hi Everyone, I just received a request for a origami artist in the D.C. Area Name of show: American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week 2019 Location: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC Dates/Hours the artist is needed: 11/4-11/6 from 8am-5pm each day We would ask that the artist provide the paper but will be reimbursed – will provide specs for origami designs and quantities as soon as possible. Just as an FYI, this will not be an in-booth activity. Instead the artist will be preparing origami to be displayed in the booth so we are asking that the artist be at show site during the install of the booth. Booth design attached. Greetings Everyone, With sadness I liked to mention the passing of Joanne Ortman. She was a long time member of Origami USA, and a member of CHAOS (CHicago Area Origami Society). She also was one of the editors of our newsletter and she was also the treasurer. She passed away August 8, 2018 around 2:45pm after a long illness. She will surely be missed by many of us. Sometimes when I teach, I'll bring along photocopies/handouts illustrating the various folds that I want to demonstrate in the models that I'll be teaching, especially when it comes to inside-outside reverse folds, remember children are very visual. -Robert
[Origami] Passing of Leo Dombrowski, long time folder, member of CHAOS and Origami USA.
Greetings Everyone, I would like to mention the passing of Leo Dombrowski, a long-time member of CHAOS (Chicago Area Origami Society), and a long-time member with Origami USA. He lost his long battle with cancer on February 21, 2015. A few years earlier he lost his beloved wife Carolyn who was also a long-time member of CHAOS and Origami USA. Leo was 85. -Robert
