Getting around a pre-existing Web Server...

2000-06-05 Thread Kirby, Nathaniel

Hi,

We are investigating using Orion as a servlet engine, but if the customer
buying our product has IIS or Apache already deployed, they are not likely
to want another Web Server or to have to open up their firewall for another
port or another machine.

Someone (on another product that uses EJB functionality) suggested writing a
servlet that forwards requests to Orion. This will work, but the project
that I am on potentially has a server round trip when the users tabs off of
an element on a form. The servlet forwarding might be too time consuming.

URL forwarding might work, btu that is only for HTTP Gets and we migth need
it for a HTTP Post.

Does anyone have any idea how to get around this ? Any and all suggestions
will be appreciated.

I recently downloaded Orion rc2 with Java Pet Store Demo. After following the instructions in
orion/applications/estore-install Im able to get the Pet Store deployed but having
difficulty getting the Orion security adapter to work properly as well as the
search function.

Orion now has JPS working on its web site so I know Ive missed something.

Thanks in Advance,
