[Oscc-discuss] Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference 2009

Dear all,

MAMPU is preparing to stage its premier annual OSS conference, “The
Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference” (MyGOSSCON 2009).
The conference is planned to be officiated by Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu
Koon and held from 4th to 6th November 2009 at Putrajaya International
Convention Centre. Please visit http://mygosscon.oscc.org.my for
announcements in the coming weeks and months as the conference details
become finalised.

Objective
-
To showcase the benefits of Open Source Software (OSS). 
To exhort and hasten further OSS deployment and development to bring
about the transformation of the entire ICT Industry in support of the
Malaysian Public Sector OSS Master Plan. 

Who should attend
-
While MyGOSSCON 2009 is directed primarily at Government of Malaysia
(GOM) agencies, attendance is open to participants from outside the
Public Sector.

The conference also provides an excellent forum for participants  to
hear firsthand from industry experts and to interact with their peers.
And not to be overlooked will be the extensive networking opportunities
for CIOs & IT Directors, as well as management, planning and legal
staff.

Conference Theme

This year's conference theme, “Leveraging OSS To Ride The Economic Wave”
is especially pertinent at a time of global economic uncertainty.
MyGOSSCON 2009 will re-emphasise GOM's desired direction for ICT
development in the Public and Private Sectors.

Call For Paper
--

The Call For Papers is now open! Proposals for conference papers will be
accepted until Tuesday, 15th September 2009.  The selected papers will
be announced, followed  by the final programme content and the
registration process.

A broad and diverse variety of papers is anticipated, e.g. basic
research, novel applications and industrial experience, with different
criteria for each category. Real life experiences and case studies are
particularly sought.

[Oscc-discuss] Invitation for Submission of Newsletter article

OSCC MAMPU is inviting articles for its e-Newsletter which is published
monthly on the its portal. 

The invitation is for anyone who has OSS-related information and wants
to share it with the public. All articles received will be reviewed for
acceptance before publishing. The selected articles will be published in
OSCC MAMPU's e-Newsletter, in which the respective proponents will be
recognised.

[Oscc-discuss] Calling For Submission of OSS Case Study

Dear all, 

OSCC MAMPU is calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2009
National OSS Case Study Awards. The OSS Case Study Awards are open to
ALL Public Sector Agencies including Public Higher Education
Institutions (IPTA) and Polytechnics. Presentation of the Awards will be
held in conjunction with the Malaysian Government Open Source Software
Conference 2009 (MyGOSSCON) from 4th to 6th November 2009.

To date, OSCC MAMPU has received submissions from both the IPTA and
public sector agencies. The number of submission is expected to increase
as more and more agencies have already contacted us for their
submissions enquiries. 

Agencies who have submitted their case studies are Kementerian Perumahan
Dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan, Kementerian
Kewangan, UKM, UPSI and many more.


The Awards are classified into three (3) groups;

Group 1: Public Sector Agencies other than IPTA & Polytechnics;
Group 2: IPTA & Polytechnics; and
Group 3: IPTA & Polytechnics Students.

Submissions of the OSS Case Studies are encouraged for the purpose of
knowledge sharing. Please do not resubmit the OSS Case Studies submitted
in 2008.

   
Submission Template
---
A template for submission is provided. It is recommended that the main
sections are kept as it is, however additional sub-sections can be
added. Submission in Bahasa Malaysia are also accepted provided that
they follow the same formats. English is encouraged, as these case
studies will also be used to showcase and share Malaysian OSS
implementation to international audiences.

Submission Deadline

The submission deadline is on 25th September 2009, 5.30 p.m.

Eligibility
---
All Public Sector agencies, IPTA/Polytechnics and their students are
eligible.

Submission
--
Please submit enquiries and the case studies, to casest...@oscc.org.my
before the deadline. If the case study files are too large to be sent by
email, please provide a link.
