[osint] FW: Press Release
Press Release: National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers April 26, 2011 On April 15, 2011, The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers (NAFBPO) testified before a joint Congressional committee hearing of The Natural Resources Committee and The Government Oversight Committee in Washington, D.C. http://naturalresources.house.gov/UploadedFiles/TaylorTestimony04.15.11.pdf http://naturalresources.house.gov/UploadedFiles/TaylorTestimony04.15.11.pdf Above is one of the written submissions from the Congressional Record. Attached is a transcript of the oral testimony to the same committee. Friday, April 22, 2011, The Chief of the Border Patrol from Washington DC Michael Fischer and The Chief of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol Randy Hill were in Cochise County apparently attempting to quell any further release of information concerning Customs and Border Protection intentionally reporting false statistics about aliens that have gotten away and agents being ordered to not work certain high traffic areas of the U.S. Mexico border. The information is widely reported by agents in the field and generally accepted as true. Additionally, this week Commissioner Bersin from Customs and Border Protection is reportedly coming to visit Tucson. One has to wonder if the purpose of the visit could be to further deny that his organization is intentionally reporting false information to Congress and advising agents to not work certain high traffic areas along the U.S. Mexico border, specifically some areas in Cochise County Arizona. If true, both issues allow illegal aliens to enter the United States unnoticed and further compromise National Security and Public Safety. NAFBPO consistently hears from current agents that they are instructed to stay out of the Whetstone and Chiricahua corridors. Moreover, The Huachuca Mountains are home to the U.S. Army Top Secret Intelligence School. We are hearing from agents that they are being told to not pursue illegal aliens passing through the Huachuca Mountains. Lack of agent access to federal public lands, Miller Peak Wilderness, is likely part of the problem. Similarly, according to agents and residents in the areas east of Douglas, Arizona, particularly Guadalupe Canyon, agents do not have even marginal Border Patrol Radio coverage and have not had reliable radio coverage for years. This being the case, CBP knowingly prevents effective Border Patrol Operations in that area by not providing 100% reliable operational radio coverage. Sure, MOU or not, is this another case where federal public lands restrictions create problems concerning law enforcement access and trump National Security and Public Safety issues? As for reporting false information about alien got-a-ways. Agents also tell NAFBPO that they are instructed, in essence, not to report any got-a-ways. Aliens are either apprehended or turned back south (TBS). To illustrate how this works...let's say an infrared camera operator observes a group of 30 aliens walking around the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Highway 90 north of Huachuca City. He calls in mobile agents that apprehend 7 of the 30 aliens. According to outstanding instructions he is supposed to report 7 apprehensions and 23 TBS or turned back south. The truth is, those were 23 got-a-ways that continued their journey into the United States. This is called cooking the books because those 23 obviously did not return to Mexico and the reporting officer knows it. The further truth is that Customs and Border Protection should know that at several stations in the Tucson Sector, on an average good day, they apprehend no more than ten percent of what is coming through and on a bad day less than five percent of what is coming through. Certainly not what is presently claimed. http://www.svherald.com/content/news/2011/03/12/tucson-sector-border-chief- says-area-largely-under-control http://www.svherald.com/content/news/2011/03/12/tucson-sector-border-chief-s ays-area-largely-under-control Ask Commissioner Bersin the hard questions. Americans demand to know the truth. Zack Taylor, NAFBPO.org tel:520-281-7148 520-281-7148 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] -- Want to discuss this topic? Tuesday April 11, 3:54 pm ET WASHINGTON, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- To discuss the underlying roots of terrorism and why it is a threat to the security of our nation, experts and professionals will be gathering for an educational symposium in the greater Washington D.C. area on April 29, 2006 for The Underlying Roots of Terrorism: Terrorism's Threat to World Peace and National Security sponsored by America's Truth Forum. The conference will bring together Corporate Security Professionals, Homeland Security Professionals, Law Enforcement Officials involved in counter-terrorism efforts, First Responder and Emergency Services Personnel, Building Management Professionals, Risk Managers, Professional Investigators and Business Owners interested in increasing their knowledge and capability in terrorism prevention. It is necessary to understand the roots of the terrorist threat, as well as the terrorist mentality in order to design and implement effective counter- terrorism strategies, said Craig Lawrence, Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist (CAS), Director of Operations at United Risk Partners in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, the symposium's corporate sponsor. The greatest challenge to American industry rises from the tendency to become complacent because of the absence of a recent terrorist attack on American soil. The danger that such inattention represents may best be overcome by clearly understanding the potential magnitude of any terrorist incident, and the high economic efficacy of proactive protective measures. Featured speakers include: Dr. Andrew Bostom David Horowitz Dr. Harvey Kushner Robert Spencer Dr. Paul Williams Ken Timmerman Richard Miniter Brigitte Gabriel Joseph Kaufman Laura Mansfield Whalid Shoebat Dr. Bruce Tefft James Woolsey Dr. Walid Phares and more ... [osint] FW: Press Release - Saudi Billionaire Boasts of Manipulating Fox News Coverage - December 7, 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 7, 2005 CONTACT: Anne Tyrrell Shirley Banister Public Affairs 800.536.5920 or 703.739.5920 Saudi Billionaire Boasts of Manipulating Fox News Coverage WASHINGTON -- Accuracy in Media (AIM) is urging a full inquiry into a report that a Saudi billionaire caused the Fox News Channel (FNC) to dramatically alter its coverage of the Muslim riots in France after he called the network to complain. The Saudi billionaire, Al-waleed bin Talal, is a friend of News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch and controls an influential number of voting shares in the company. This report underscores the danger of giving foreign interests a significant financial stake in U.S. media companies, declared Cliff Kincaid, editor of Accuracy in Media. The controversial comments came at an Arab media conference featuring representatives of Time magazine, USA Today, PBS, The Wall Street Journal, and other news organizations. The conference and the Saudi Prince's growing influence in News Corporation are among the subjects of a new December-A AIM Report that has just been posted at the AIM website ( http://www.capitolwebhosting.com/sendstudio/users/link.php?LinkID=679UserI D=30948Newsletter=228List=3LinkType=Send www.aim.org). The report raises the specter of Arab money influencing News Corporation and other U.S. media companies. Liberal journalist Danny Schechter, a participant in the conference, reports that Al-waleed, who is a member of the Saudi Royal Family and investor in the Fox News parent company News Corporation, gave an interview boasting that he had called Fox to complain about coverage of the Muslim riots in France. He said he called as a viewer and convinced them to change the coverage because they were not Muslim riots but riots against poverty and inequality. And they changed the coverage, the Saudi reportedly said. Another report on the comments, carried by the Dubai-based newspaper the Khaleej Times, says that Al-waleed personally called Rupert Murdoch to complain. The Saudi said, After a short while, there was a change in the coverage. An AIM call to Fox News asking for comment was not returned. This is not the first time that Al-waleed has made controversial statements. His $10 million contribution to a 9/11 fund was rejected when he blamed the terror attacks on U.S. Middle East policy. Fifteen of the 19 terrorist hijackers on 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia. Accuracy In Media (AIM) is a non-profit, grassroots citizens watchdog of the news media that critiques botched and bungled news stories and sets the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage.
