Re: [OSList] WOSonOS 2005 Nova Scotia - do you remember

2019-07-16 Thread Marai Kiele via OSList
Thank you for this description, Peggy,

And for enlightening me on what you brought into that Closing Circle, without
naming it.

So a wish of mine had been fulfilled, and I never knew!

I had discovered Bohm Dialogue in 2004, after several OSTs the year before. In
more „normal“ OST’s I found that sometimes the conversation was too mental and
linear for me, and too little listening took place. So I was interested in ways
of going deeper. His book opened up new possibilities and touched me deeply.
Yet I couldn’t find anyone close by who actually used it. I had a strong wish
of participating in such a Dialogue. Now, 14 years later, I learn that I
actually did. Big smile over here...

Marai

PS: I appreciate your links and the document you attached.

2019-07-16 Thread Peggy Holman via OSList
Diana — LOL…we’re getting old!

To put that in perspective, following that amazing conference experience in
Portland, one of the conference participants from Seattle faxed (yes, this
pre-dated email) all of the attendees from Seattle to find out who was
interested in continuing to experiment with Bohm Dialogue. About 15 of us
showed up. We met monthly for over a year.

I learned a lot about the power of open ended dialogue. In fact, it informed
how we worked when we started the Open Space Institute-US. After a couple of
tedious meetings using a traditional project management approach where I’d
coming with a pre-set agenda and we’d slog through it, we shifted to doing a
check-in, where people spoke to what they wanted to cover, moved into an open
ended exploration, and closed with a check-out. What I discovered was that not
only did we cover everything on the list that I compulsively made for myself,
but we covered things that hadn’t occurred to me. Plus, we enjoyed each other’s
company. In other words, we got more done and had more fun. Sure changed the
way I worked!

2019-07-16 Thread Suzanne Daigle via OSList
Hi to all the Nova Scotia WOSonOS Alumni,
I am writing to you from beautiful New Brunswick Canada where I am
vacationing with family. How I revel in the spirit of this inquiry which
happened before my life transforming exposure to Open Space in 2009. Soon
after that first introduction, I collected all my air miles and rushed to
Taiwan for the WOSonOS there. I relish the memories of it so deeply, in the
same "spirit" as folks sharing here.

Thank you Marai for posting this inquiry. It reminds us of the huge impact
of those global gatherings and our deep connection and affection of Open
Space. Even though our stories aren't the same, the awe and gratitude we
feel are beyond words.

I smile thinking of the title of my post yesterday on Facebook extending an
invitation to this year's WOSonOS to old pals and new pals: "Come Create
New Memories with Us". Prescient perhaps, synchronicity certainly. How
wonderful it would be if many came to share their old memories.

Thank you!
