Use elevation data

2017-04-14 Thread Barry Evans
What exactly is the function of Settings/Use elevation data? How does it
work?
All I can see is that it affects routing, but I can not work out how?

I can't find anything in help or this forum, but my apologies if I have
missed.

Thank you

Re: Doubt about the new elevation and slope profile for calculated routes

2017-04-14 Thread Barry Evans
I was positively shaking with excitement when I read about and installed
the latest version with this feature, as we have waited a very long time
for it and it was the missing link to make OSMAnd THE cyclo-touring app.
But I could not find the elevation profiles after installing the latest
update. Tried everything. Lucky I read this thread and have updated my maps
(just normal country/region maps) and now I see the elusive lost missing
treasure of elevation profile. So

THANK YOU everyone at OSMAnd for all your work. Its really appreciated :)

(And perhaps warn users that they must update their maps for this feature
to work)

Re: What is OsmAnd API demo?

2017-04-14 Thread Francesco Pelullo
Osmand API manages transparent layers above maps, this is how OsMo plugin drew
icons over maps.

Please check OsMo source code.

Noob cannot get UK postcode search to work properly (Android)

2017-04-14 Thread David Leslie
I have OsmAnd installed on my Redmi Note 3 Pro running Android 7.1. The UK
postcode search is very patchy and usually does not come up with the
postcode I'm looking for. I downloaded a UK postcodes .obf file (the one
from Harry van der Wolf), unzipped it & copied it into the
/data/data/net.osmand/files folder and restarted my phone. I realise that I
need to search the postcodes as a POI but I'm absolutely stumped about how
to access them as they don't appear on the POI list. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

New coordinates in new version?

2017-04-14 Thread David
Does anybody know what the new numbers are that are displayed below the
lattitude and longitude numbers on de screen that pops up if you long-tap on
the map. (After you get the big orange placemarker, pull up the info-screen at
the bottom)
The numbers look like this:
 85864R2G+R6

Unable to change Storage Folder to SD Card on Android 4.2.1

2017-04-14 Thread Nico W
me
I finally figured it out. Apparently Samsung (or android developers) changed
the file structure. If you use the standard "my files" option it will not show.
Total Commander showed a file 686E-6BD2 with net.osmand.plus. It had all my
previous maps, poi, tracks, the whole nine yards. I deleted all my internal
memory osmand files and manually made the file track in osmand settings as
storage/686E-6BD2/net.osmand.plus and all my maps loaded.
In "maps download" it still shows device memory, not external (maybe developers
can fix this) but with the amount of free space on my sd card, not anymore the
little memory it showed before.
I googled it and this issue affects some devices running 6.0.1, not all.
