Harry - Thanks for that. As it might be nearly ready, I'll wait. Probably
better (for me) to cope without it for a few more days. - PW

Osmand 2.80 on iOS 12.3.1 extremely unstable, keeps crashing.

2019-06-17 Thread Fatbiker

I've installed Osmand 2.80 on an iPhone 6 plus with iOS 12.3.1

The phone is in good condition, I did a full reset and fresh install of iOS
before installing Osmand.

I'm running the paid version with currently a global, Dutch and Swedish map
installed as well as contour lines and hill shading.

This is my first attempt at using Osmand on an iPhone, yet I am experienced
using and navigating with Osmand on Android without any issues.

Osmand keeps crashing. In particular when using the zoom in and out buttons
and when using the button that focuses the map on the current gps location.
The app seems currently to heavily drain the battery.

It seemed at first tapping the screen was causing issues so I completely
disabled Siri but that hasn't resolved the crashing. I've also removed and
reinstalled the app to no avail.

Any suggestions as to possible causes and solutions are welcome.

Re: What's up with map updates?

2019-06-17 Thread V S
All maps are updated now. Please use OsmAnd Live subscription and you will
get incremental map updates every hour.
Our full generation map update is becoming more complicated and this month
it was delayed by 5 days because of hardware issues though it is expected
that it could take 2-3 weeks and maps of 1st/XX/20YY will be produced at
20/XX/20YY

Re: Turning off screen automatically

2019-06-17 Thread Harry van der Wolf
Yes, the solution is in that code: ready or not.
One of the Devs is working on it. It is still work in progress, but based
on the fact that he wants to integrate the changes from his branch into the
main branch, seems to me that he is "almost there".
Of course it needs testing. Note that every branch is a 100% copy of the
main branch, so you could technically download his repository, build it
and test it.

The fact that Victor does not have it merged yet, might mean that the
plugin is not mature enough yet.
Or maybe this plugin development is ready, but the main team might be
doing some big restructuring of or change in the main branch, so this
specific development (branch) has to wait for the main branch to be
finished.
The code of OsmAnd is huge and really complicated.

Harry

Hi.
Thanks for the feedback.
