Re: [bug] Recording tracks with intervals > 1 min

2017-12-14 Thread gergyverjux
I recently switched to Locus Map and their recording track feature just
works as it should: switch recording on, and the timer and track recording
starts with a time interval defined in Settings. When minimizing the
application or when the display is off, GPS is switched off and recording
stops (but you can also keep it active). When switching the display on or
switching back to Locus Map, GPS is re-activated, and new points are
recorded, and joined to the previous track. During all this, the timer goes
on. At the end of the hike you have a timer indicating the total walking
time and a track made by joining any point recorded when the display was
on. I could never make this work in Osmand :-(

Re: my suggestions to make Osmand better

2017-10-29 Thread gergyverjux
1) +1
2) I have Pedestrian as default profile and do not suffer from this
3) Osmand is not really closed - you can re-open it in its current state
from the list of active applications

Re: Loss in functionalities for the new Measure Distance tool

2017-10-29 Thread gergyverjux
Suggestion:
- put the Measure Distance widget back in the widget box for easy on-off
switching + indication of the distance;
- when activated (on), show the current Measure Distance screen with its
options eg snap to road;
- allow to return to the main screen, showing the points and dotted line of
the measured distance, and allowing to add points by clicking on the map;
- when deactivated (off), show the current Measure Distance screen with its
options, eg for saving the points as route or track.
- re-activating the Measure Distance continues with the current points and
lines.

My current use case: while hiking, I follow my progression by adding points
with the Measure Distance tool - this allows doing orientation like I would
do on a paper map (without turning the GPS on for saving battery) by
marking my successive positions on the map

Route: adding waypoints to route and unwanted zoom out

2017-10-29 Thread gergyverjux
When adding waypoints to a route, the map zooms out to show the whole
route, this renders the successive addition of waypoints quite tedious,
requiring zooming-in at the right position before adding the next waypoint

Loss in functionalities for the new Measure Distance tool

2017-10-26 Thread gergyverjux
Is it only me ? The new Measure Distance tool:

- cannot be invoked from the main screen widget;
- cannot be used on the main screen (uses its own screen);

A step backward, imho :-(

Re: [bug] Recording tracks with intervals > 1 min

2017-02-05 Thread gergyverjux
I experience the same behaviour. While the displayed distance is correct
when recording using continuous logging, it is not updated when using 60s
interval, probably because the GPS is switched OFF and ON. Only after
saving the track can one see the correct track length.
Look like the same issue as reported here

Re: Feature request - Show elevation profile of planned route

2017-01-27 Thread gergyverjux
Should ideally also work when using the 'planning tool' plugin, either
directly while adding points, or after having saved the planned route as a
gpx file.
Coloring the track according to the elevation is fine but an elevation
profile is far better, imo.

Re: Feature request - Show elevation profile of planned route

2016-11-10 Thread gergyverjux
I am also in favour of this, I don't want to use an external tool to see
the elevation along the planned route. Today I export the track
to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/elevation. And elevation is an very
important aspect for planning a hike: 100m of elevation is equivalent to
1km of flat route !
