Re: Error report: "Standard map" correct at a specific point, but not "Bike map" and others

2020-07-31 Thread Bob Gambrel
Majka: I have run into this problem also in the past. Am sure your
explanation is the root cause of not seeing changes yet.

Before seeing you answer I went into OSM and verified road is now
residential. Then went into OSMAND and downloaded Sweden map. I could see
the specific road segment was grayish, while others nearby where white. I
then downloaded current OSMAND Live map and it renders white (correct for
Resdiential road). I had also tried routing through the road with OSMAND,
and that worked.

So, I concur with Majka. I believe everything is correct in the base map
and you will just have to wait for rendering of the tiles to propagate.

You did not mention if you were using OSMAND+ or OSMAND Live. I recommend
both. That will give you the absolute latest map that is available. I use
both so I can see OSM changes I make as soon as possible. Having said that
there are tiles that can take a while to update. I believe I have seen
delays as long as a few days maybe even a week. Others might know the worst
case.

Time... You are looking on layers which don't update very fast, you have
simply wait for new rendering.

Still cannot make it to work.
Changed the road to ""minor/unclassified" did not help.
Then changed to residential did not help either.
Any suggestions? Or trouble shooting ideas?

Re: Error report: "Standard map" correct at a specific point, but not "Bike map" and others

2020-07-28 Thread Bob Gambrel
In looking OSM, this road is type: unknown. From the wiki, is this about
unknown road types:

Mappers should *not* expect that ways tagged like this will be useful to
the end-user in any form. The ambiguity makes this rarely useful for data
consumers. This has the following implications:

   - Do not expect highway
   =road to be rendered
   - Do not expect highway
   =road to be routable

I don't know if this is the root cause of the non rendering you are seeing,
but a first fix would be to update OSM to indicate the type of road it is.
I suspect that will cause it to render correctly.

Since it connects (among other things) a Tertiary road to a Residential
road, and there is no other way to get to the residential road, it would
probably be OK to change it to residential, or minor/unclassified road.
