Enough for now, everybody.

Please remember to include as much information as possible in
initial queries of this type; lots of people still get this list
on their phones, and keeping traffic down is a Good Thing.

Our service provider, Lightower, is seeking approval from Con Edison and the
New York Department of Transportation to temporarily run fiber at street level
to bypass the impacted area. They expect to receive approval sometime this
morning. I will keep you updated as they come in.

Heh, and another update:

"There is a motor vehicle illegally parked blocking access to one of the
manholes. We are waiting on a tow truck to arrive to remove the vehicle. Fiber
crews have moved on to the next section to research available ducts and will
revisit the blocked manhole once the vehicle has been removed."

So NYC.

Re: [outages] NYC fiber cut

2015-12-22 Thread Charles Sprickman via Outages
Heh, and another update:

"There is a motor vehicle illegally parked blocking access to one of the
manholes. We are waiting on a tow truck to arrive to remove the vehicle. Fiber
crews have moved on to the next section to research available ducts and will
revisit the blocked manhole once the vehicle has been removed."

So NYC.
