Buenas, estoy intentando hacer una tabla que tanga un alto fijo, y que el texto
que aparezca demás, sea ocultado.
Por ejemplo, si tengo la siguiente tabla:

style="table-layout:fixed">
<tr>
<td style="height:20px;overflow:hidden"><p>1</p><p>2</p><p>3</p></td>
</tr>
</table>
Por pantalla sale lo que quiero conseguir, es decir, que solo se vea la primera
línea, pero por impresora sale mal (mi navegador destino es el explorer), y no
se consigue en estilo overflow:hidden.
Alguien me podría ayudar para conseguir ajustar el alto del td
independientemente del contenido?

PD: He conseguido el resultado esperado usando la propiedad CSS clip, pero he
tenido que crear un div contenedor, y jugar con posiciones absolutas y demás
para que clip tenga efecto, y me gustaría saber si hay alguna forma más
sencilla.
