[ozmidwifery] Home birth research
Dear List I am seeking references for any researchconcerning the choices women make about where they have their babies. I am researching why women choose to birth at home, and have only found a couple of references pertaining to choice and place of birthin Australia. If anyone has any other references I would be grateful. Thanks. Lyn.
Re: [ozmidwifery] Home birth research
Dear Lyn, I don't have any "formal" references, however I do ask clients whocontract me to be their midwife why they chose a homebirth. Would this be of any use? The Angliss Birth Centre represented the other side, but I think the convienience queens were given a better showing (IMHO). The most disgusting part of the show was the pros and cons presented by Dr Ric, yes RIC Gordon, (was a presenter on Good Medicine!!). The ACA site has a ³fact sheet² which is a joke and a spot for voting on if you would have a c/section or not. If you can handle it please look at it and vote!! There is also a feedback section for what it¹s worth! At http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/stories/975.asp In Birthing solidarity Justine Caines I vote we introduce a procedure that removes semen from men via an incision to the testicles. Lets see how far that would get, eh? -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics. Visit http://www.acegraphics.com.au to subscribe or unsubscribe.
Re: [ozmidwifery] ACA Painless Birth Show Tonight!!!
It's now 406 for no so the vots are increasing. I also wonder how many of the No votes have experienced caesareans too. It would be an interesting study, and I would like to seethree concurrent studies.Given that manycaesareans are firstbirths, it would also be interesting to research two more groups of women who have had both positive and negative experiences of vaginal first births and then go on (for whatever reason) to have a caesarean. Just had a look at the votes - it was interesting - 363 -NO 189-yes and 25 unsure. Hmm I wonder how many of the yes ones have had a c/s. It would be interesting to do a study of womenwhohave had both a vaginal and c/s delivery and see what the generalverdict would be- it would be a very honest assesment asonly they know both sides of it.
