Re: [ozmidwifery] wonderful birth!
Congratulations to all, Tory. Leigh - Original Message - From: Victoria Howell To: Midwifery Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 12:09 PM Subject: [ozmidwifery] wonderful birth! Dear Ozmidders, I had to write and tell you about a recent birth I was privileged enough to be present at. I wrote to the list a few months ago because my sister-in-law had been told to have a c-section due to bad varicose veins in her legs. After passing on all the information and support I received from the list to her, shedecided to try for a vaginal birth and went and found an Ob who supported her decision. I travelled up to the Gold Coast a few weeks ago and she birthed while I was there. It was 4.5 hours from when her waters broke to when she birthed. She did it without any intervention (Private hospital !!?! WOW), on all fours and didn't even use the gas. The power of this woman was amazing Her husband wasn't interested in helping her during labour so I was really involved as a support person. It is one thing to be witnessing a birth as a student, but quite another when it is someone you love! Anyway, the whole experience was wonderful for all concerned and I wanted to thank the people on the list who were so helpful to us back in December. Cheers! Tory - Flinders University Student
Re: [ozmidwifery] post dates
Some statistics that Jackie Mawson had stated that out of every 500 inductions they only save 1 baby. that means these women have a 1 in 500 chance of their babies having any problems due to post dates doesn't it??!! - I guess that is rather good odds as far as I am concerned. I also believe that if something is wrong you know. My girlfriend had a baby who had gastroskysis (a hole allowing her intestines to develop on the outside) everything was going well and at 34 weeks (I think it was) she just up and went to the hospital and told them that the baby was in trouble (she just felt it) Her baby had tangled it's cord and was in distress. SheKnew even though it was her first baby. Just to help them realise they will KNOW if something is wrong. Good Luck! They are getting your 'baby will die' scenarios fromthe doctor but are both resistant to an induction! One felt 'a bitbullied' the doctor. Got some happy stories for me??My own happy story was that with my last baby I was 22 days over.. hewas born beautifully and still had vernix under his arms and in hisgroin. [ozmidwifery] Rabbits!!
Hi A light moment, Pinky FIND THE RABBITThe LAPD, FBI and the CIA were all asked to prove that they were capable of apprehending the terrorists. The President George W decided to give them atest. He released a white rabbit into a forest and each of them had to catch it.The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all the plant and material witnesses. After three months ofextensive investigations, they conclude that rabbits do not exist. The LAPD go in. They come out after two hours with a badly beaten bear. Thebear is yelling, "Okay, okay, I'm a rabbit, I'm a rabbit."The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads, they bomb the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit. They make no apologies; therabbit had it coming.Little Johnny the Australian Prime Minister hears about this and decides totest Australian Law Enforcement Agencies. He releases a white rabbit intothe Stromlo Forest outside Canberra. The Victorian Police go in. They return after 15 minutes with a koala, akangaroo, and a tree fern all shot to pieces. "They looked like dangerousrabbits and we had to act in self-defence" is their explanation. The NSW Police go in. Surveillance tapes later reveal top ranking officersand rabbits dancing around a gum tree stoned out of their minds. The QLD Police go in. Shortly afterwards, they come out driving a brand newMercedes, scantily clad rabbits draped all over them. The QLD Premiercongratulates them on maintaining traditional family values. The National Crime Authority couldn't catch the rabbit, but promise that ifthey are given a budget increase they can recover 90 million from the rabbitin unpaid taxes and proceeds of crime. The WA Police went into the forest and caught the white rabbit, but therabbit inexplicably hung itself when the attending officer "slipped outmomentarily" for a cup of coffee.ASIO goes into the wrong forest. The Australian Federal Police refuse to go in. They examine the issues, particularly cost, and decide that because of the low priority and cost tothe organisation as a whole, the matter should be rejected and returned tothe referring department for investigation. The NT and SA police join forces to beat the crap out of every rabbit in theforest except the white one. They know it is the black ones who cause allthe trouble.
[ozmidwifery] childbirth classes
Hi, I was wondering.do health insurers reimburse parents for attending private childbirth education classes? If so, does anyone know which funds/which level of coverage? Love, Barb -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics. Visit http://www.acegraphics.com.au to subscribe or unsubscribe.
RE: [ozmidwifery] childbirth classes
I have just checked with our office. All of the Australian Health Management Group funds do to some extent. Depends on level of ancillary cover the member has Judy -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Tuesday, 28 January 2003 1:45 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: Re: [ozmidwifery] childbirth classesI queried Medibank Private and they said they would - but don't know which type of provider they would cover, and the level of cover.Debbie SlaterPerth, WA
