Thanks Brenda and Judy,
The Mum I looked after
was Thai, spoke very little englishand had shared care with a lovely GP
ie. came to the hospital system late. I wondered how many of the "risks" she had
taken onboard with the communication problem. She was a multi and when she came
in it was in "business like" late labour, it stuck in my mind because I sensed
she was only thinking about birthing when the c/s train hit hence why it was so
stressful. Thanks for the reminder it can happen!

birth
I have seen more thana few vaginal triplet
births in the days before the "C/S happy" mindset prevailed.
They were of assorted breech/ceph combos, but I can't
recall any with any problems in the actual birth.
I clearly recall 3 sets being term infants !!
Pacific Islander Mums - very laid-backdates? Who
takes any notice of dates?? They'll come when they are good ready
not a moment before !! Perhaps their mindset was the secret !!

Hi Wendy,
I have onlybeen present at 26week
triplet vaginal birth about 6 years ago. The triplets obviously needed
nursery time and ventilation but no complicationsduringthe
actual birth process. Surely some of the risks (cord
involvementetc) with vaginal triplet birth are the same preterm or
term?
Thanks
Melissa

Hi all, have been lurking fora while,
love the interesting discussions, thankyou.I'm a married mum
of two and hospital midwife by convenience. Anyway, at work last week a
woman came in at 32 weeks , triplets, in good labour at 7 cm, all head
down, off to her c/s asplanned with a huge amount of fuss, mum
stressed out to the max. Iunderstand all the risk factors and the
reasons for a c/s ( prem as well)just wondered if anyone out there
has been at a triplet vaginalbirth in Australia? Despite the risks I
just had thisbig gut feeling that everything would have been
all right. The babies were all fine except the third who needed a bit of
CPAP once they got into the nursery. My Auntie had a vaginal birth of
triplets in a community hospital in Perth in 1979, she's vague on the
details but all was OK with the boys.
thanks Wendy.
