Re: [packer] Re: Debugging Packer builds within a CI pipeline

2020-05-12 Thread Adam Rush
Ok thanks Megan. I thought that might be the case.
I'll keep investigating workarounds...I think I'm on to something!

Re: [packer] Re: Debugging Packer builds within a CI pipeline

2020-05-12 Thread Megan Marsh
I don't think there's a way within packer to do that but if you write a
little wrapping script to call Packer you can probably force the build
container to pause too.

[packer] To: SwampDragons huge thanks for Packer v1.5.4 fails with SSL: UNKNOWN_PROTOCOL when it checks for ipv6 address

2020-05-12 Thread John Roh
Hi Megan,

Thank you so much for https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/issues/8790 to
you and you teams.

I am able to build Windows 2012r2 Sysprep AMI packer v1.5.6 after adding
use_proxy=false and passing ansible_winrm_server_cert_validation=ignore in
the extra arguments.
Sorry I caught up with getting completed with the current project but I was
able to continue to work with the debug version you saved me, which is not
available anymore as you want me that the travis ci repo must be gone now.

Anyway, I am able to build Windows AMI in packer 1.5.6.

Grov and awesome!!!

John.

[packer] Does Packer supports escape characters in JSON?

2020-05-12 Thread drj
I am working on building an image using the vpshere-iso builder
unfortunately some of the naming conventions in our vsphere env are using
spaces in our esources names created, for e.g. the datastore name is called
the below highlighted in yellow. I don't have the admin rights to go in the
env to rename that datastore to a name w/ out the spaces is there a
workaround by adding some escape characters in the following below?
"datastore": "dev-test (1)"
