While you are at it . . .
Perhaps also remove
http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/Packman/
It hasn't had an update in about four years.

Hi,

I got asked why people get, since weeks:

Permission to access
'http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/repodata/repomd.xml' denied.

I checked with firefox, and the whole:

http://packman.inode.at/

gives:

403 - Forbidden

Do you know what is going on?

Aside form the URL in your title being totally messed up,
packman.inode.at is currently not working.
Changing to another repository will fix your problem.
If you have had trouble changing I'd suggest it is because you haven't
copied the url correctly.

Try . . .

http://packman.jacobs-university.de/suse/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/

currently working for me

Avidemux (avidemux3) seems to have disappeared from packman (for

Will it be making a reappearance, or has it gone forever?

thanks, yes, I submitted a big for this several weeks ago

but it doesn't seem to be getting much attention.
I guess I just need to be more patient. ;-)

[packman] mpv smb and ffmpeg3

2020-07-24 Diskussionsfäden Mark Fairbairn
since a few months back mpv has required ffmpeg support for smb to
play content over an smb network. This was fixed in ffmpeg4 for
tumbleweed.
https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2020-03/msg00145.html[1]
However, Leap 15.2 uses ffmpeg3 which does not have smb support in
place (at least in the opensuse/packman version)
Any chance of getting the fix that was applied to ffmpeg4 backported to
ffmpeg3 for leap 15.2?

This issue is also present in Leap 15.2 (beta)
As far as I can tell, Leap 15.2 is still on ffmpeg-3Will this fix also be added
to
ffmpeg-3 or will we see ffmpeg-4 added to leap 15.2 at some point?

Re: [packman] change a WKV file's tags title

presumably you mean .mkv (matroska) files.
MKVToolnix will allow you to do what you want without the need to
re-encode the movie

I didn't think about creating an appropriate title among the tags for the first

have any way short of reencoding the whole file. I tried in VLC, which has a box
allowing a title change, but no apparent way to apply it. If Handbrake can't, is
there some other app on Packman or in openSUSE repo that can make such an
apparently small edit?

[packman] Taiwan Mirror

2018-07-27 Diskussionsfäden Mark Fairbairn

Hi
I'm wondering what has happened to one of the Taiwan Packman mirrors?
http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/Packman/
It's still listed as an active mirror at
http://packman.links2linux.org/mirrors and always seems to show a 1hr
update.
However, it contains no listing for Leap 15.0 and all others seem to
have had no update in about ten months.

It's a shame because it was always the fastest mirror for my location.

[packman] Chromium / chromium-ffmpeg H264 support

2016-11-05 Diskussionsfäden Mark Fairbairn
I don't know if the problem lies within chromium-ffmpeg or chromium
itself but in the combination of Chromium (54.0.2840.90-85.1) &
chromium-ffmpeg (54.0.2840.90-86.1) there is no H264 playback support.
Youtube reports that h264 not supported in the browser and other sites
refuse playback or fallback to another format.
Rolling Chromium back to 53.xx (but keeping chromium-ffmpeg 54.xx in
place) resolves the issue.

Anybody know where the problem lies?

[packman] smplayer_enqueue.desktop

2015-11-09 Diskussionsfäden Mark Fairbairn
in openSUSE Leap 42.1 smplayer.desktop contains the line
"X-KDE-Protocols=http,ftp,smb"
This line allows media to be streamed over a network from a NAS drive
for example.

The X-DE-Protocols line is missing from smplayer_enqueue.desktop
resulting in media accessed from a NAS drive being copied (entirely) to
a local drive before playback begins.

Simply adding the line "X-KDE-Protocols=http,ftp,smb" to
smplayer_enqueue.desktop corrects the issue.

Is there any particular reason it has been omitted or is it just an error?

Re: [packman] Avidemux

2014-03-02 Diskussionsfäden Mark Fairbairn
The only change made to avidemux 2.5.x was to update to a newer internal
ffmpeg so there is either a bug in the newer ffmpeg or more likely some
kind of incompatibility with the old avidemux which hasn't been
developed for almost three years now.

You could try avidemux 2.5.6-9001.4 from the factory repo

or you can get a really old avidemux 2.5.6-9000.8 from the old 12.1 repo

Opensuse 12.3. That version was not updated at that time and worked
fine. This is the reason, why IMHO it's a Packman-case ...

I cannot reproduce the problem with openSUSE 12.3 and current avidemux
