I would recommend that you use the official Leap version 18.12.3 or if you try a zypper dup from Packman to ensure you have the correct libraries. The appimage includes all of the dependencies in the package, that's why it uses so much space. [packman] kdenlive package 19.08 for Leap 15.0 is broken
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that the kdenlive package (19.08) for Leap 15.0 is broken. The program is starting but it does not behave normally. It's impossible to cut a video, the clips disappear completely from the timeline or jump all over the place, and so on. It's unusable. I'm now using the appimage from the official website: kdenlive-19.08.0a-x86_64.appimage and everything works normally. Hi, I installed the latest available version for opensuse 42.2 but unfortunately i can't render anything i just get a message that the render crashed but no further info on why. [packman] kdenlive-0.9
Hi! I noticed that kdenlive-0.9 on Packman now links to openSUSE:13.2:Update. But this resulted in a downgrade from 0.9.10 to 0.9.8. FYI, kdenlive 0.9.x hasn't been removed from OBS/KDE:Extra, it just got renamed to kdenlive4. I think it would be better to link to this one, this is the latest KDE4 version (0.9.10) and the one that was available in Packman until a few days ago. Thank you. So I linked it back to the original OBS prj. Since that package needs an update the build did not start yet. Too bad, during the short period of time where the _link pointed to the wrong OBS prj the pkg was built and published. Sory for that. See also http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=930616. The problem at the moment is that kdenlive in KDE:Extra is broken, because it still links to Factory (although KDE:Extra isn't the devel project for Factory's kdenlive any more). This will hopefully get resolved soon. For now you can install kdenlive from KDE:Extra as a workaround (the repo itself still contains the KDE4-based version 0.9.10). As it's libmlt that does the actual work (kdenlive is basically just a frontend), you won't be missing anything, not even restricted codecs... PS: the version 15.04.x from KDE:Applications does work fine (even on 13.2), but the crash is caused by a Qt4/Qt5 conflict (libmlt from Packman is built against Qt4 in 13.2, but kdenlive 15.04 is KF5-based and therefore uses Qt5). You'd have to install the Qt5-based libmlt from KDE:Applications though, which of course doesn't support ffmpeg/restricted codecs on 13.2. And frei0r-plugins would cause a crash too as those pull in Qt4 as well (that's still a problem in Factory too AFAICS), but as they are only recommended you could uninstall them. There's nothing Packman specific at all in the package's specfile. For the standard openSUSE releases it still makes sense though I think: - to provide the latest version (this would also be available from KDE:Extra or KDE:Applications though) - to make sure it is built against/works with the libmlt from Packman, which is still necessary for full codec support As ffmpeg is in Factory meanwhile, the distribution's libmlt might be built against it in the future too (it isn't yet), so not even libmlt would be needed on Packman any more. Users would just have to install ffmpeg from Packman. But this will break for released distributions of course as soon as Packman offers a too new ffmpeg... Yes. But you need a libmlt built against Qt5, which is not available on 13.2 or lower. And frei0r-plugins (which are even recommended by the libmlt6- modules package) pull in Qt4 as well and cause a crash on startup (you could uninstall them though). If you really want to run the latest kdenlive 15.04.1 on 13.2, I would recommend to use my repo of co-installable KF5/Plasma5 packages: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/wolfi323:/branches:/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_13.2/ This contains kdenlive5 15.04.1 (installed to /opt/kf5/), a libmlt built against Qt5 (I changed the version to 0.9.60 so that it does not conflict with the standard Qt4-based one), and frei0r-plugins-qt5 (installed to a different directory, so again they don't conflict with the standard ones). The main point of my repo actually was to install Plasma5 side-by-side to KDE4's desktop, but just installing/using one application should work fine too (and would allow to also keep the KDE4-based version). OTOH, the question is whether it's necessary for you. AIUI, 15.04 is just the port to KF5, not really much has changed. and why did not kdenlive 15... do not trigger the install of qt5? Because you had Qt5 installed already, as YaST uses it since 13.2. But it should have triggered the installation of some libKF5 packages... Just to be clear: kdenlive didn't crash because you probably didn't have Qt5 installed. It crashed because it loaded both Qt4 (via libmlt) and Qt5 (by itself). Any process that loads both Qt4 and Qt5 (directly or indirectly) will crash. We had the same problems with YaST and libproxy (and libqdialogsolver) about a year ago in Factory. https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866692 https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866622 Kind Regards, Wolfgang ___ Packman mailing list Packman@links2linux.de http://lists.links2linux.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/packman

Hi! AFAICS the kdenlive package in the repo for 12.2 still requires libmlt5, which is not available anymore in Packman. The version in the repo (0.9.6-2.13) has a file date of 2013-06-26, wheras the version in pmbs (also 0.9.6-2.13 for 12.2) was last built on 2013-07-16 (against libmlt6 of course). [packman] kdenlive 0.9.4-31.1
Since last update (0.9.4-31.1) kdenlive does not show the white line indicating the gain level when applying the volume efffect to a piece of audio - oh wait it does but just when the audio piece is placed on first video track!? But then it is not really usable (no grabbing and dragging). So anyway: no gain level indicating line on audio tracks with volume effect enabled audio pieces. Oops, my fault - comes from openSuSE 12.2 KDE 4.9 Core. Sorry, wrong list! Btw.: same happens with kdenlive git (using the buildscript). Will place it on http://www.kdenlive.org/bug-reports, as suggested. Thanks! [packman] Kdenlive 0.8.2-2-2x86_64
Hi Not sure if I should report this to you or the guys from Kdenlive. Today 20th Nov 2011 the latest update of kdenlive was installed on Suse 12.1, new install (not upgraded) So all the latest SW/libs are available.(hardware is about 1 year old) After rendering the msg comes up aborted, resulting video will probably be corrupt. ...plus crash report..see attachments. Kdenlive itself does not crash The resulting video clips are playabble with kaffeine, VLC and smplayer. I tested this with rendering with MP4, XVid4 (.avi) and H264with all the same crash report. This happend since the version from kdenlive came out about 2-3 weeks ago under 11.4. A bug report relating to this was lauchned (by someone) within kdenlive and apperantly fixed 15/11/2011. So I was hoping with todays update everthing would ok. I also noted that there is a newer version under Tumbleweed and Factory, however I do not want tumbleweed repros in my production machine Please let me know if I should also inform the guys from kdenlive. Thanks and cheers for the good work you have done.Suse 12.1 rocks !!! Otto ___ Packman mailing list Packman@links2linux.de http://lists.links2linux.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/packman

Re: [packman] kdenlive 0.7.5
Thanks. Not including mlt was something Toni intended to fix and it was on his to do list. Here is a quote of his from an email he sent me sometime back: Start of quote from email 06/06/2009 09:33 AM (on old kdenlive-0.7.4): FYI: The actual package is missing a direct dependency to mlt package (kdenlive needs /usr/bin/melt at runtime). So if someone gets the error message: ... cannot find melt programm ... the solution is to install the package mlt-0.4.2 (http://packman.links2linux.de/package/mlt) manually. As soon I find some time, I'll correct this issue. End quote: I hope Toni is ok. ... He has been helping out with openSUSE as long as I can remember. I'm kind of sad to not hear from him any more. Re: [packman] kdenlive problem for openSUSE 11.0 KDE4?
Toni, Thanks for responding. The purpose of my tests using VirtualBox was to use the openSUSE 11 KDE4 base. That was to minimize the chance of a stray update causing problems. I did one test with the base only and one with base plus the updates supplied from the openSUSE update repository before adding packman. Neither worked. Both crashed right at startup. I finally fell back to an openSUSE 11 install using KDE3.5 and the NON-kde4 kdenlive version in packman. Kdenlive works ok then. I'm left to conclude openSUSE 11 KDE4 + packman kdenlive just doesn't work right now. I'll stick with KDE3.5 and wait for KDE4 to mature. Phil -- Toni [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Am Mittwoch, 1.
