Izwe lethu M'Afrika

I have come to believe and accept that the only innate elements of great
cadres to advance any revolutionary programme evolves around passion and
energy, with the following cornerstones Integrity, Gratitude, Decency,
Vision (ideological clarity and conviction), and Character. These elements
are the core of what we should epitomize so as to stand out for anyone
person and/or a leader to be categorized as a cadres fit for a leadership
role and fit to advance the revolution. We must refrain from resorting to
highly questionable character, we being driven by desperate (and grudges),
and the party (or we) place them in position(s) of responsibility within the
party and in communities (or as public representatives).

At the same, we should be careful of mouthing, revolutionary this or that,
while our ideological orientation and methods of political including our
actual daily deeds and thoughts are far detached from revolutionary theory
and we lack basic qualities (or elements and features) of a cadreship to led
and advance the revolution. Political theoretical clarity since from it we
draw and generate that which we envisages, therefore it is a primary
requirement for party members and especially those members' entrusted with a
leadership responsibility.

Being an angry ultra African nationalists does necessarily make one a Pan
Africanist, sure one can oppose white supremacy as a nationalist but being
comfortable with capitalism! Also being an African traditionalist does
translates on being a grounded Pan Africanist. Some African nationalist
aspires to rid white capitalists such that they can proceed with the free
market system as black capitalist.

We are at the stage where-at political theoretical clarity and adherence
(that is, ideological grounding on Pan Africanism) cannot be an area of
compromise. If we speak of revolutionary characters, maybe should also study
qualities of leaders such as Sobukwe, Pokela, Raboroko, Mothopeng and many
others, as to what made them unique and they could rise above mediocrity and
fulfil to the political tasks at hand. It is worth also necessary to study
and analyse various leaders (or leaderships), the emergence and impact of
formations such as Sobukwe Forum and other nationalist entities, some
continue to masquerade as Pan Africanist formations, therefore we must dig
deep and analyse as to what ideological thrust do these characters advance?

At the same time, we must not underestimate the astute foxy methods of the
comprador bourgeoisie's sophistry learning from the betrayal of Captain
Thomas Sankara by an African Comprador Bourgeoisie agents of capital
imperialism and white supremacy.

The principled determination to achieve unity of PAC branches and members
should continue without compromising principled aspects as articulated in
the PAC basic documents. We should at all-time be cognisant of the fact
that, divisions within the PAC serves and advances the interest of enemies
of Pan Africanism, therefore as PAC members we should accept to have
disagreement and remain unified and stronger as we advance the Aims and
Objectives of the PAC. As opposed to disagreeing in such a manner that leads
to further dividing and weakening the PAC ultimately being incapable to
focusing and advancing Aims and Objectives of the PAC.

Subject: THE PARTY SHOULD SWIM AGAINST THE TIDE ON LEADERSHIP IDENTIFICATION
AND DEVELOPMENT

Greetings, Sons and Daughters

I hope this writing will receive your principled and constructive judgement
and comments, as we continue to ponder the state of PAC as it is at its
lowest ebb never seen before amidst this odd state surely many and
increasing PAC members and branches are rising to the task of re-building
and reclaiming the party for its ultimate goal as explained and summed by
the five aims and objectives of the PAC. It is not all gloom and doom as
some may wish to portray the state of the PAC, equally the party's current
situation is not palatable and inspiring, truly it is the political work of
selfless party members in their branches and regions that one's hopes is
raised for we all know that it is commonly idling minds and hands that are
susceptible to evil influence. We blame no-one but ourselves to take
collective responsibility to rebuild the party because we must realise that
from our non-activism, mayhem prevailed especially when the space created by
default or design by those who knows had been left unoccupied also simply
put ANC governs the country for PAC fails to resolves its inner party
infighting and becoming a disciplined social force for change. As the public
condemn ANC for corruption and many other social ills including unscrupulous
public policy choices , as PAC we must take blame for failing the vast
majority of the downtrodden and exploited masses. Evils triumphs for good
men and women inaction and/or state of being radarless!

It has become common and obvious for many and particularly among proponents
and scholars on forms of social and political change that without
leadership/leaders to make it happen it can't happen. PAC has been reduced
into a party that commemorates past events, memorial services and funerals.
Organisational growth and social change as an outcome of party political
influence, it's most cases an occurrence driven by leadership or leaders who
uphold a value system that inculcates a principled, disciplined and
revolutionary character. The reason the party is on a continues state of
retrogression organisationally and politically is expressed by Andre
Malraux that "To command is to serve, nothing more and nothing less" and
Aristotle further places the view that "He who has never learned to obey
cannot be a good commander." The party requires to nurture practical
leadership skills around a clear party political programme and strategies,
mainly party objectives and purpose to improve performance in a sustainable
way, so that leadership development becomes an integral part of the
organisation. Leading people focuses on the three key areas of the strategy
process: vision, strategies, and values, and on the impact of leadership on
the successful execution of strategy. The popular used and followed
Christians book, The Bible, teaches us that "Where there is no vision, the
people perish." -Proverbs 29:18. The state of PAC as it stands today expose
mainly leadership failure, which is nothing else but the type of
persons/members entrusted with the party leadership role. Leaders achieve
advances and major breakthroughs in performance and transformation of the
manner the public and voters consider and think about what's desirable and
possible. How the public perceives the PAC is mainly a reflection of how
party leaders express and conduct themselves on public and party matters.

All organisations have internal disagreements and conflicts; fore-sight,
constructive and matured-objective leadership approach which above
mediocrity will always assure and re-assure the public and members of a
responsible and trustworthy persons capable to lead. Using words of General
Montgomery is worth to state that "My own definition of leadership is this:
The capacity and the will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the
character which inspires confidence". At times we are blessed with leaders
who can't liberate themselves from subjective approach to internal party
disagreements, these characters always move from an "I" subjective view on
party and social matters, they are immersed in personal interests and
egocentrism hence some self-brand themselves as messiahs or some form of
personality cult and they act like typical high school bullies instead of
serving the party and the masses. The worst case scenario it's when such
leaders amass wealth and/or have access to state machinery leading to some
sort of an "Idi Amin or Joseph Stalin" purging any tenet of democratic
practice and independent critical thinking, replacing them with cronyism and
mediocrity.

The party has been arrested by visionless leadership incapable to present a
persuasive political case to the ordinary persons in the country, this bring
into mind a comment made Reverend Theodore Hesburgh that "The very essence
of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It's got to be a vision you
articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You can't blow an
uncertain trumpet". Weak and poor leadership is also demonstrated but a
structural and systematic emphasis on infighting and smearing campaign which
sadly permeates through party structures thus the entire party has lost a
sense of purpose. Maxwell alluded that "a great leader's courage to fulfil
his vision comes from passion, not position". The test of leadership is to
be resilient, but not discourteous and impolite; be compassionate, but not
feeble; be courageous and unflinching, but not tormenter nor a tyrant; be
solicitous, but not indolent; be modest, but not timid; be proud, but not
egotistic and conceited; have humour, but without idiocy. One writer once
retorted that "Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the
self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's
amazing what they can accomplish".

Scholars and practitioners on leadership and organisational development
advanced that to make sure that leadership development achieve a lasting
impact an organisation should formulate and use " performance improvement
opportunities within an organisation's the real-life context for learning",
an organisation should build a deeper leadership qualities not just
functional skills such that leaders should have resilience and
self-awareness to sustain major change, lastly shape a leadership engine
that integrates capability-building with the systematic organisation's
broader norms and resources coordination processes focused and linked to
the organisational immediate to long-term goals and objectives. Building or
required capabilities, mind-set and behaviours is crucial along the party
and other revolutionary formations principles.

As PAC members, branches, Branch Executive Committees and Regional Executive
Committees re-organise the party structures and develop party cadreship
including preparing for the July 2013 National Conference, one hopes that we
shall not be self-serving and act under subjective interests of personality
cults that have caused the degeneration of the party, through branch and
regional based political workshops and branch meetings as members we will
re-discover central and primary daunting task and responsibility of the PAC
to our people to bring material change in their lives and lead the African
people to total liberation and unification of Africa under a socialist
order. Though existing branches and regional structures we should succeed to
bring the PAC Vision and Programme as captured in the 1959 Pan Africanist
Manifesto, formulate an organisational strategy and plans of actions for
execution and to create coherence and synergy thus achieving a common sense
of purpose and unity in action. The July 2013 National Conference should be
a platform we demonstrate the success of building vibrant and viable
branches with each region commanding at least (more) than 300 delegates and
presenting discussion documents that breathes life and activism within the
PAC. As democratic centralism prescribes let branches and members determine
the and shape constructively and objectively guided by the party
constitution and disciplinary code not only reclaim but mainly place the PAC
on the Pan Africanist Agenda as a matter of urgency and necessity our
failure will be that of many generations to endure! Let us draw our swords
of war to overthrow of white supremacy and capitalism including its
neo-colonial institutions.

One wishes all PAC members and branches success and greater achievements in
your political work deepen party structures in the daily struggles of our
communities and at industrial areas. On May 1st, as PAC members we must
attend and flood all MAY Day Rallies organised by NACTU and COSATU in
numbers, with PAC T-shirts and banners including distribution of flyers
explaining ideas of PAC and Pan Africanism, flyers that explains the
necessity to ban labour brokers, to mobilise workers to fight the high cost
of living; flyers that will advocate nationalisation of mines to in control
of workers and communities!

PAC MUST RISE, CAPITALISM AND WHITE SUPREMACY MUST BE OVERTHROWNED AND
AFRICA MUST UNITE this stands as a daunting task facing us in our epoch.
