Registration of victor readersoft

2005-02-01 Thread kstarrett5
Hello Everyone,

Okay, I bought victor readersoft from rfbd and went through the registration
process which, I was told, was successful. But when I try to start the app I
get a message that the user name and/or key isn't valid.

Has anyone else seen this problem with vrs? How did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance,
Kimberly

Capturing streams and burning an entire folder in nero

2005-02-01 Thread Kathy Szinnyey/Fred Otto
Good morning, listers! I have a couple of questions I'd like some help
with.

1. I have never attempted to record streaming audio on my hard drive and
would love the most basic help possible. I have Wimamp, Nero, the cheaper
/Sound Forge for starters and am using Jaws 5 point something or other. Is
there anywhere I can go to get the info?

2. Is there a way I can grab a whole folder in Nero and burn it without
having to select one file at a time. I want to make an audio disk of some
folders I have. I know how to select files but can't seem to get how to
just grab that whole folder to burn it.

Thanks for any help yous guys have!

2005-02-01 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi all,
I sent this out the other day and got no response, so I thought
I'd try again. Also, if someone could either forward it to the winamp for
the blind list, or send me that address. I can't seem to get to the
plug-ins section, if indeed, that's where I need to get to fix
things. Appreciate it.

Rusty
A, just what I thought! But now, when I press enter on a file to play
in winamp i get this message:

Directsound output v2.2.10 error
bad direct sound driver. Please install please install proper drivers or
select another device in configuration

Please, if anyone knows, how do I fix this. I tried to find the output
plugins area but couldn't get there from here, as they say up in
Maine. How to I find the correct driver, or How to I select another device?

Uh yes. D comes after c, so logic suggests that yes, D is higher than c.
and before you and everyone else asks, yes it's accessible with your

So go download it and don't worry about a single thing.

Hi,

I called rfbd and after trying several authorization keys finally got a working
one. The woman I talked to told me the user name and the key must be typed in
caps which I didn't know. She also asked me for the hardware fingerprint before
she gave me the new key(s).

So now victor is working on my office computer and I'll have to cal again when
I get home to get that system working.

Hope this helps,
Kimberly

New high quality recorder from Olympus

2005-02-01 Thread Michael Lang
Olympus has released the DS-2. This flash recorder has a maximum
recording frequency of 17000 Hertz, much better than their other
dictation recorders. It achieves this with its S-HQ mode: Microsoft
Windows Media Audio 44.1 KHZ, 64 KBPS. It has a USB port and it works as
a drive on a PC. Sounds great, but ...

It records onto its built-in memory and it has only 64 mb. Therefore the
maximum recording time in S-HQ is one hour and five minutes. It uses two
AAA batteries and the specs say, that one can record up to 15 hours with
one set. That's much better than the Edirol R1, which can only record up
to one hour with two AA batteries. It's interesting to compare the two.
The Olympus doesn't seem to have a built-in microphone, it has a 1.8
stereo mic mini jack. The Edirol has a built-in mic, but it doesn't have
a built-in speaker, which the DS-2 has. Also, one can manually set the
recording volume on the Edirol, but as much as I know, this isn't
possible with the Olympus.

All in all, I'd say that these recorders are promissing, but they both
have some significant limitations. The DS-2 costs around 199 Euros here
in Germany.

The Muvo looks good, but I like the Archos 20 GB recorders and players. You
can load an alternative firmwear called rockbox. It will read the menus and
names of the dirrectories. The IRiver H 120 and 140 players are good too and
they're working on Rockbox for these players. If you want the Archos, you'll

Re: what is the most blind friendly portable mp3 player?

2005-02-01 Thread JULIE MELTON
Joe,

I have tried several MP3 players and find the Muvo to be the best so far.
The reason is that you don't have complicated software. Once you install
the drivers on your computer, you can just transfer the MP3's from anywhere
on the computer into the player by cutting and pasting.

The only problem I found with Muvo is, if you get the NX or TX models, the
menus are tricky, but that'll be true for any MP3 player.

Subject: what is the most blind friendly portable mp3 player?

Hi, what do you think is the most blind friendly and best portable mp3
player. I saw something the other day about the Muvo from creative labs.
That looks pretty good. Do you think that would b the best for a totally
blind person? or is there something even better. Thanks, Joe.

Re: Admin Reminder Re: Accessible Tuners

2005-02-01 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Kevin
You're using Eudora, so if you want to find the address of the person who
sends a message to this or any other list, or to you privately, simply go
to the top of your message, and the headers will tell you all kinds of
information. look for the line that says, x-sender, and then you should be
able to figure out the e-mail address from there.
Outlook express users can simply press the f3 key and you can read the
headers that way.
Hope this helps folks, and many apologies for continuing what has been
flagged an off topic thread. But I felt the information was important so
that people would know better ways of replying privately.

Remember folks, if you offer to send something to list members,

And, if you want what is being offered *always* contact that person

send it to me too.
I've had to reject 3 such messages already today.

goldwave and sound forge recording problem

Hello. I have goldwave 5.08 and windows xp-pro. I have two sound
cards; 1 soundmax intigrated audio and 2 creative labs sound blaster
audigy.

I have a regular mic plugged into the audigy and a phone patch plugged
into the soundmax. Up until today everything worked fine.

Out of habbit when I record a new sound I use stereo 44100 hz. Up until
today whether I record from the soundmax microphone or the creative
microphone the recording worked flawlessly. Now, if I record from the
soundmax microphone where the phone patch is, the recording is slightly
lower in pitch. I had to up the pitch to 48000 hz and then resample it
down to 44100 hz preserving hte normal pitch to get it working right.

If I do any recording from the creative card everything works
flawlessly. What could I have changed to not allow the soundmax to work
the way it used to. I thought that regardless of what sample rate you
recorded at initially the pitch would play back the way it was recorded.

I just tried this with Sound Forge 7 and get the same results when
recording from the soundmax microphone source.

  Basically if
I choose the soundmax microphone as my recording source and record a
phone call if the

Hello, is the GMini a player which uses double A batteries or its own
internal rechargibles?
Thanks a lot.
