Re: PC Cillen

2005-02-09 Thread Betsy
Of the 3 antivirus programs I've used I'd have to say PC Cillen was my
favorite. It was very easy to use and worked really well, but unfortunately
I lost my serial number when my Braille N Speak died and could never get it
replaced which of course meant I couldn't get updates. This was a few years
ago now so am sure there are better safeguards against such a thing so
definitely think it's worth checking into.

Subject: PC Cillen

 Greetings to the lists,

I am in a rather serious situation over here.

I have / had several trogens on my main system.

I am currently using Central Command's virus software, called Vexira.

Even it cannot find the two trogens that I know to be out there on the
main
 box.

It is no big problem, as I know what and where they are on the main
system.

I just got off of the Trend Micro House Call site. The House Call Active X
program, which they say is also in the PC Cillen software, found and
completely removed the two offending trogens.

 Now for my question---

Is any one on these two lists or does any one know any one that is
currently
using or has used Trend Micro's PC Cillen software?
I want to know anything that any one can tell me about these guys. I was
seriously impressed with how House Call found the two trogens. House Call
is
a web-based Active X control, which tries to clean your system. Trend
Micro
sells PC Cillen, and a host of other corporate virus products.

If any one has ever heard or used Trend Micro's PC Cillen, please respond.

 Thank you for your time.

wave to mp3 conversion with Sound Forge or Nero

2005-02-09 Thread eoconnor
Hi folks,

If using Sound Forge 6 or Nero 5.5 to convert files from wave to mp3,
which settings should I use to ensure
 as little loss as possible?

I need to reduce file size as I'm beginning to run out of disk space.

Regards with thanks,

Eamonn

Trend Micro House Call

2005-02-09 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi Listers,

Marty Rimpau had a question yesterday. His question was, where can we find
trend micro's HouseCall utility?

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Be aware, this is an active X internet explorer component. It will ask you
if you want to install the active x component, of house call. Say yes. After
it is installed, you may wonder why isn't anything happening... Due to the
way that it presents itself, from directly inside of the trend micro web
page, you have to turn on the jaws cursor or whatever the equivalent is for
your particular screen reader. you next have to find the words my computer.
again, they will be on the web page but your virtual cursor will not pick up
the active x smaller interfaced, contained in the window just above the
instructions that you will be sure to see. it is funny, I looked for it for
several minutes before I found it but any way --- back to this ---

providing you have installed the active x component correctly, if you look
around, you will see the words, my computer, you should take your left mouse
emulation key, and click right on the m of my computer, then switch back to
your standard pc type cursor so, you can slide the treeview open, and press
the letter l as in local hard drive. if you have changed the drive letter or
volume label of your main hard drive, pressing l, may not work but, my hd is
local disk c, so, opening up the tree, and pressing letter l, worked just
fine.

once you have told trend micro's house call interface which drive to search
on, switch back to the jaws cursor or equivalent, and just to the left of
the my computer icon that you clicked on earlier in our experiment, you
should find a scan button, again, it was to my left, not too sure if it will
be to the left of the my computer icon for you but, it is imperative that
after you have told it what drive to scan, that you get your mouse pointer
option going, and be sure to locate and then left click the scan button. if
you keep your jaws cursor or mouse pointer turned on, you can see the files
flying by, see the progress and respond to any virus info that it finds.

if you did not understand any of this, sorry...

kazaa and winmx

2005-02-09 Thread Gery Gaubert
First of all, I tried to install and run kazaa and went I went into the menus
to search I saw that new search was unaailable. Any help would be nice.

Next with winmx, when I search for something on wi nmx I get waiting for
results. If no results are found, I go back to the search window and start
typing another artist or title and while I am typing, I still hear waiting for
results. Also it seems that I am not getting the bit rate and whether it is
cable or dsl and also I am not getting the number of users and available. I am
starting to get real discouraged with downloading mp3's.
