RE: replay for RM files

2005-05-05 Thread Aman Singer
Hi.
If you have the RM file on your HD, just use RM2MP3 converter
http://www.rmconverter.com/
if you do this often or plan to, it's definitely worth the price.

Removing Pops and clicks

2005-05-05 Thread Robert Stokes
Hi Folks,
I've embarked on the daunting but enjoyable task of copying a very large
collection of LP records onto computer, using Sound Forge. The quality
of
the recordings is generally very good but some do have annoying pops and
clicks. I've tried using the presets in Sound Forge's 'Pop and Crackle
remover without much success. I could probably get rid of some of the
noises
manually but that would be far too time consuming. If anyone can offer
advice or knows of another programme for removing unwanted sounds, I'd
love
   to hear from them.

   Best.
   Robert.

Re: free reverb

2005-05-05 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hello Larry:

To begin with, when you unzip the file, you must decide where you want to
place the files. Let me suggest:
c:\program files\FreeVerb

Then, you must find and open that directory, and run the appropriate batch
file that corresponds to your operating system. That will register the
plug-in with Windows. Until this is accomplished, GoldWave cannot use the
plug-in.

Please refer to my earlier post concerning the setup for GoldWave.

Cheers.

Hi Jim. I downloaded the Freeverb plug in, pressed enter on DirectX and
received the warning to unzip the entire file first. I did that, returned
to
Freeverb and pressed enter on XP. I received the same warning, despite the
fact that the package had already been unzipped. I then opened GoldWave
and
looked for Freeverb in the DirectX plugins. It was not listed there. I
hadn't a clue of where to unzip the plug in, so maybe that was where I
went
wrong. Do you have any idea of how I can go about making the plug in
work?

  Hi Dennis:

Assuming you are wanting to use the plug-in in GoldWave, you will need
to
  accomplish two tasks:
a: Register the plug-in with GoldWave and,
b: Select the plug-in while in an Audio file.

Note: you only need to perform the first task once.

  Task a: Registering the plug-in.

  1.  Enter the GoldWave program;
  2. Press Alt-O to bring up the options menu.
  3. use your up or down arrow keys until you come to the plug-in
  sub-menu;
  4. Press right arrow and you should hear DirectX ...
  5. Press enter on DirectX.
  6.  Cursor down until you hear FreeVerb;
  7. Press the SpaceBar to check that plug-in.
  8. Tab to OK.
  9. That's it.

  Task b: Selecting the plug-in.

  1. With a file loaded, press Alt+C to bring up the effect menu.
  2. Cursor up or down until you come to the plug-in sub-menu.
  3. Press right-arrow and you will bring up the DirectX sub-menu
  4. Press right-arrow and you will bring up the list of your DirectX
  plug-ins.
  5. When you hear FreeVerb, hit enter.
  6. Go wild with the plug-in.

  Hope this helps.

It will put the RM file on your HD, but I think you need to convert it
yourself. If you own Easy CD DA Extractor there's a nice converter built
in, or you can buy an audio converter.

Hello PC-Audio:
I would like to know if anyone else has use this product .It sound very

Has anybody had experience with it?

From the news letter:
Convert Records and Cassettes To CD!
Get Rid of Hisses , Pops, Crackles!
WOW! We've had a TON of e-mail and phone calls from people looking for this
again. It took us a few weeks, but we've finally gotten more of these in
stock.
It's the Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 3 and it's really fantastic. In just 3
easy steps, you can convert your old records and cassettes to CDs! It even
includes
video tutorials to show you how!
And it doesn't stop there - it also includes a terrific selection of clean
up tools that get rid of hissing, crackling, buzzing, and all sorts of
other
distracting noises. You can also tweak the volume, enhance the stereo sound,
and adjust with an equalizer. If all this seems like too much don't worry
- it also includes a wizard that makes the whole thing an almost automatic
process!
Look at this:
Perfect sound-recycling from LP, cassette, MP3, etc.
Fully automated help wizards for all program components
Easy CD-burning function (disc at once)
22 professional sound effects Plus unlimited DirectX capability
Automatic recording: detects adjoining songs for playlist loading
 2-track-mode for arranging, fading, cutting
Reference option: sound adaptation to musical examples
Karaoke function: filters out vocals so you can sing
Improve and export MP3 files (QDesign demo encoder with 20 free runs)
Save as WAV, MPEG or Internet Streaming Format (WMA)
Intuitive real-time program operation for fast results
Look at all the clean up options at your disposal:
 Take out clicking (Declicker)
 Retouch crackling (Decrackler)
Filter out buzzing droning noises (Denoiser)
 Eliminate hissing (Dehisser)
 Surround Sound mode
 Acoustic simulator
 Enhance stereo sounds (Stereo FX)
 Volume balancing (Compressor)
Clear and boosting sound for all music styles (10-band-EQ)
Plug-in support for additional effects (DirectX)
Delete over-modulation / direct voltage units
 Correct speed and sound pitch (time-stretching / pitch-shifting /
resampling)
 Maximize volume (normalize)
Reverb / echo / delay will add character to the sound
If you have a pile of old records and cassettes laying around, now's the
time to convert them into CDs! It's fast, easy, and fun. We tested this with
an
old walkman cassette player and were amazed at the results. You'd never know
the final CD was created from a cassette - it was really that good!
The price? Just $18.97, FREE US shipping! This is a $50 program, so $18.97
is a fantastic buy. One word of caution though - this was extremely hard to
find,
so getting more could be hard - especially at this pricing. PLEASE be sure
to grab yours today.

Re: free reverb

2005-05-05 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Marijan.
If you are using XP, you should be using the XP batch file. There is a
batch file for W9x, WXP, and WNT. Running the un-modified NT batch file in
XP won't work.

If you don't have an XP batch file, you have the wrong version of the zipped
file.

If you go to:
ftp.compuconference.com/FreeVerb_DirectX.zip
you will download the latest version of the file.
As an alternative, you can edit the NT batch file by changing the WinNT
directory to Windows.

Cheers.

Re: Removing Pops and clicks

2005-05-05 Thread jaywill
Hi, Robert,
I use Wave Corrector. It's fast, works well right out of the box, and you
really don't need to worry about the graphic portions of the thing, and it
costs $45. Goog le it for the correct site.

Subject: Removing Pops and clicks

 Hi Folks,

I've embarked on the daunting but enjoyable task of copying a very
large
collection of LP records onto computer, using Sound Forge. The quality
 of
the recordings is generally very good but some do have annoying pops
and
clicks. I've tried using the presets in Sound Forge's 'Pop and
Crackle
remover without much success. I could probably get rid of some of the
 noises
manually but that would be far too time consuming. If anyone can offer
advice or knows of another programme for removing unwanted sounds, I'd
 love
 to hear from them.

 Best.

 Robert.

Re: CD Burning Problem

2005-05-05 Thread Larry Higgins
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in order for these files to be
converted for play on a standard cd player apart from the computer, they
must be recorded at 16-bit stereo and 44.1khz. This is the standard.

confirm stream loss error

2005-05-05 Thread Roger R. Cusson
every time i try to use the built-in cd recording tool in xp sp2, by right
clicking on a file or folder, going to send-to and then choosing cd
recorder, i get a silly confirm stream loss error, which indicates that the
file will not work if i proceed.

after trying this for 50 files or so, i am convinced that there is some
permissions or security thing in xp sp2, which forces this error to occur.

has anyone tried to burn files or folders in xp sp2 by using the send to
option, under the right click context menu, and not gotten the confirm
stream loss error or does any one know how to resolve this all important
issue?

Using Adobe audition with JAWS

2005-05-05 Thread Karl Smith
Hello Folks,

I have a customer who wants to use Adobe audition with JAWS on a laptop.
This is a communications student who will need to perform a lot of work for
his broadcasting classes and the Adobe software is what they are using. Is
anyone out there using this software with the latest JAWS? Please let me
know and also let me know if I can refer the production people to you for
assistance as I am really out of my element here. Thanks.

Karl
