I hope that I don't sound too pedantic, but the second HI-MD generation
recorders start with the letters MZ-RH. So you can upload with MZ-NH and
MZ-RH, but not with MZ-N or MZ-R.

Michael,
Do you happen to know whether or not one can actually transfer minidisks to
the computer with this new version of the software?
I'm really needing to get some of that done in an efficient manner.

Otherwise Scott, there's something else you can try. Get into the CD via
windows explorer, highlight one of the files, which probably has an extension
of cda, that is, C D A. hit the right windows key to open a pull down menu.
Select open with. Now select choose program and hit enter. From the list
provided select Winamp.
This isn't very clear, but you should get the idea as you go along.

Hi Scott,
Try this,
Go to my computer and hit enter. Highlight the D drive and select properties.
Do a shift tab to
General tab and right arrow to the auto play tab. I'm hoping you will find a
fix in this section if you take a look around.
There's all kinds of auto play options in here.

I'm having an interesting issue.
I'm running jaws 6.0, and the latest version of station playlist studio
(3.01.
Has anyone noticed that it is losing focus in the playlist window?
I can arrow up and down, but when I arrow down, it gets to a point in
the playlist, and as I press down arrow it says nothing.
In order to get it to re-focus, I have to minimize and then go back to
the window.
This just started happening.
Any ideas why?
Anyone experienced this?
Thanks,

Skype-ready Head-set Problem

2005-08-05 Thread Dana S. Leslie

I recently bought a Logitech USB head-set/microphone combination advertised
as Skype-ready. I would like to leave it permanently plugged into my system,
so that, when I receive a Skype call, I just have to slip on the head-set.
The problem is that, when I plug the head-set into a USB port, my desktop
speakers stop working. Whenever I finish a Skype call, I have to unplug the
head-set before I can again hear JAWS through my desktop speakers. I also
find that, more often than not, when I do unplug the head-set in order to
use the desktop speakers, the speaker volume has mysteriously been reset to
only 50%. I have to open Volume Control and reset it to 100%.
I could, of course, leave the head-set permanently plugged in, and use them,
all the time, in place of the desktop speakers. But I would really prefer
not to have to do this.

I should also explain that my desktop speakers are plugged into a splitter
that is plugged into the output jack of a Griffin Technology IMic USB sound
device. I imagine that the USB head-set is somehow conflicting with the USB
IMic, although I don't know why this should be.

I would appreciate any advice on how to make this incredible lash-up I have
created work the way I want it to.

Thank you.

Blessed Be,

Dana

   Hi Folks

Just thought people might be interested in a new mp3 player I've just got
hold of. It's made by CNMemory and they just call it an mp3 player - no
special name.

It's about the size of a largish cigarette lighter and is done in three
types, 256, 512 and 1gb storage capacity. I've got the 1gb one. so what
is

it. Effectively it's a pen drive. It plugs into the computer via a usb
cable and looks to the computer just like any other drive. Obviously
working like that you can in fact store data on it, but it also has its
own

built-in player which can handle mp3, wma .wav and its own format - I
think - act. The act format is used for dictation, as it also has a
simple

built-in recorder which records in the .act format at a mere 8 khz and
sounds quite honestly awful. However, it can also record in .wma and
.wav,

the latter at 44.1 khz. The only thing, however, is that it will only
record from its built-in microphone but nevertheless, for, say recording a
small meeting it would be absolutely fine and at 44.1 khz you'd probably
get

about 2 hours' worth of recording on the 1 gb flash memory.

The mp3 player itself can handle bitrates from 32 to 320 and is reasonably
blind friendly in that once you've switched it on, you hold down the play
button for about 5 seconds and you're into the play mode. You can then,
using a little joy-stick control, move through the files and by pressing
the

play button again it starts playing. You can also, press the play button
first then move through the files and it will start playing each one, so
you
can get an idea where you are. I've only had it a day so far so don't
know

if there's a way of fast forwarding or rewinding through a file - I've a
feeling not, though, if you turn off the player, it'll start where it left
off when you turn it back on again and go into play mode.

The player itself is very compact with the bottom plastic section coming
away to reveal the usb port.

The only real drawback with it are the other menus. It does have features
like, 7 different graphic equalisations, shuffle mode, and the ability to
update the firmware and flash memory, but these are all within sub-menus.
You get to these menus with the joystick control, by pressing it in, then
moving up and down through them and I suppose once you got the order of
them, it would in fact be quite easy to use as they are large definite
movements.

There seems plenty of kick in the amplifier and it comes with a reasonable
set of those ear bud phones. All in all for mp3 on the move it's really
good. The problem I may well have is losing the thing, it's so small.

I'll hopefully be doing a review of it for main menu.

More details can be seen at www.cnmemory.com

Chrissie

Oh yes, you can get a version with a built-in fm radio.

good. The problem I may well have is losing the thing, it's so small.

I'll hopefully be doing a review of it for main menu.

More details can be seen at www.cnmemory.com

Hi Ken,
I wish I could say with certainty. I really haven't gotten to play with it
much. it is a Sony net md mini disk player. I managed to get part of a book
on it but it was incomplete so I was trying to get it off and try again but
was having no luck. I don't know if it is because I am technologically
challenged or if it was that the sonic stage 2.2 was just so unfriendly. I
know that it is a menu driven unit, but I haven't gotten far enough to know
if it will be easy to remember the order of operations.
With lots of hope I am looking forward to giving the newer version a try.
Maybe I'll actually get to play with my toy. Smile
If I get it to work I will be sure to post it here.

Nero Burning Rom Version 6.6.0.16 is Available

2005-08-05 Thread Steve Pattison
Nero Burning Rom version 6.6.0.16 is now available and one place
where you can download it from is at
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Nero_Burning_Rom/942634103/1.
Here are the changes in this version: -Steve.

Adapted UDF Multisession Support for DVD-R DL Layer Jump Recording Mode
Added several advisory messages
Added a new help file for LightScribe
The used UDF version for UDF compilations is now shown in the log file
It was not possible to print a LightScribe label with an external
LightScribe drive

Nero Express did not start on a Japanese Windows 2003 Server Operating System
Copying open VR discs was not working
Implemented a warning message in case a DVD-R9 DL is copied to a
DVD+R9 DL and the

layer break of the source does not match the destination disc
The calculated disc space for DVD-RAM media was wrong
Aborting a LightScribe print process could cause the application to hang
