Re: FM transmitters

2005-12-21 Thread Chuck Adkins
I couldn't agree more. After you make the slight adjustment, they work
great. Not only are they a good low cost alternative, they sound good. You
can also use them with batteries, something which could prove helpful. I had
one running constantly for about a year and didn't have a bit of trouble
with it, accept when the power dropped, they shut off and have to be
re-started manually. You can't go wrong with one and my 2 year old grand son
could probably hook it up.

 Hi,

I'll chime in here too with a hearty endorsement of the c
crane transmiter. Perhaps those who are disappointed with its range
haven't heard about the secret screw adjustment that makes it kick
butt. How can one go wrong at its price. I remember spending a lot
more at one time for the so-called webcaster, which, now resides at
the bottom of the Winchendon Massachusetts landfill. I bought it
because I loved the concept, but, it just plain didn't work
correctly, for my money. I could bearly get reception from one room
to the next, and it cost much more than the c crane unit, and it had
dorky knobs to deal with. With the c crane, you can press buttons
and count how many times and get to where you want to be. It doen't
drift, fade out, or depreciate in signal, and yeah, the batteries
seem to last forever. I've got two, and one of them is on all the
time, and, knock on wood, they're both running perfectly.

Here here Steve. One thing which I love about the C-Crane transmitters
as well is the ability to adjust the frequency to within .5. Example,
88.1, 88.15, 88.2, 88.25, 88.3, etc.

I find the range of the C-Crane to be very good and in fact it can reach
throughout my house and garage with no problems. The 2 AA batteries on
it last for ever it seems. Overall, I'm very happy with the C-Crane
although at the time I did pay $70.00 for it.

The first thing I don't like about this unit is, it's not full-band
coverage. The New York City FM dial is full, every 400KC, and the
in-betweens can readily be heard coming in from surrounding counties
and states if you have a decent receiver with an equally decent
antenna. The so-called college band, though, is pretty empty, so I
might avail myself of the low-end-of-the-band version if I were
  ordering it.

Second thing is, I think you're paying a lot of money for the extra
power supply deal. This one weighs in at $89, whic is $24 higher than
the C Crane one which, oh by the way, boasts no special band coverage
  restrictions.

Iriver model H-10C

2005-12-21 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
Are any of you using the Iriver H-10C model? I am able to load and unload
Music or MP3 files with no trouble, I can play the Music, I can with a
little work get to the FM Radio, that is about what I am able to do.
The unit has a small number of buttons about 7 so that simplifies the
selections of buttons.
Problem is there is no tone or Beep to indicate any changes when you press
the buttons.
I have only had the unit for about 1 week, so much to learn.
It is to early to put in a third party Firmware because of Warranty issues,
plus I don't think there is any available.
I would look forward to hearing from anyone that is using the Iriver H-10C
series of players.

It's just a low (very low)-powered FM transmitter you can hook up to
any audio source so that you can hear it on a radio somewhere else in
your house or office.

Reed! Many of us use an FM transmitter and wireless keyboard to work

transmitter part. Instead of an FM transmitter some of us use wireless
headphones which come with a transmitter that broadcasts on a dedicated
frequency. The Gyration keyboard for $199.00 is a popular option for the
keyboard part with reliable service up to 100 feet from the keyboards
transmitter..
The FM transmitter or headphone transmitter plugs into where you would
plug your computers speakers in and the keyboard plugs into a USB port.

I couldn't agree more. After you make the slight adjustment, they work
great. Not only are they a good low cost alternative, they sound good. You
can also use them with batteries, something which could prove helpful. I
 had
one running constantly for about a year and didn't have a bit of trouble
with it, accept when the power dropped, they shut off and have to be
re-started manually. You can't go wrong with one and my 2 year old grand
 son
 could probably hook it up.

I've got two, and one of them is on all the
time, and, knock on wood, they're both running perfectly.

as well is the ability to adjust the frequency to within .5. Example,
88.1, 88.15, 88.2, 88.25, 88.3, etc.

I find the range of the C-Crane to be very good and in fact it can reach
throughout my house and garage with no problems. The 2 AA batteries on
it last for ever it seems. Overall, I'm very happy with the C-Crane
although at the time I did pay $70.00 for it.

The C Crane adjustment being referred to is not meant to be changed.
It's hidden behind a label which has to be peeled off. I've never seen the
unit so can't advise more specifically. I suppose it's technically illegal
to change the setting and that's why it's set as it is. Maybe they sell the
same unit in other countries with a different adjustment.

Re: FM transmitters

2005-12-21 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,

If you check very very carefully, there is a small
rectangular label in the back of the unit. It is almost
undecernable, but it can be peeled off, thus exposing three screw
holes. The one closes to the edge is the one you need. You'll need
a jeweler's screwdriver, or, at least a very small one. Turn the
screw clockwise as far as it will go. Replace the label and you've
boosted your output. Not sure about the legality. In my case, it
makes the signal reach my driveway, but not beyond. Even full blast
I cant't get more than a hundred feet! Hth.

getting out of the wireless headphones and the FM transmitters?

Have you heard anything about Blue tooth headphones/keyboards and how their

I tried it about a year ago. What it did is change the sound driver to
something else, or told you to do so. I forget what they changed it to,
 but
the recording and playback controls were changed to something different.

We certainly must start out by asking. If only a couple of blind

 Hi,

I know you have to rate stations with this radio system:
 http://ca.music.yahoo.com/launchcast/stations/default.asp

or rather, your station, if you have one. (You have to sign up to
 yahoo!
to be able to make your own station).

Anyway, has anyone got the rating system to be accesible; or even
 usable?

 thanks,
 Tyler

PS: usually, I just listen to the stations that it lists, but I'd
 like
 to
have my own kustom station (say, I want it mixed: pop, rock,
 alternitive,
 etc etc).

The C Crane adjustment being referred to is not meant to be changed.
It's hidden behind a label which has to be peeled off. I've never seen
 the
unit so can't advise more specifically. I suppose it's technically
 illegal
to change the setting and that's why it's set as it is. Maybe they sell
 the
same unit in other countries with a different adjustment.

Hth.

makes the signal reach my driveway, but not beyond. Even full blast
I cant't get more than a hundred feet! Hth.

I have one of the C Crane FM transmitters and wonder what adjustment that
kicks butt you speak of? I think the only adjustment mine has is to
 change
the output frequency, maybe I am missing something?
My unit is about three years old does that matter?

I find the range of the C-Crane to be very good and in fact it can
  reach
throughout my house and garage with no problems.

This one weighs in at $89, whic is $24 higher
than
the C Crane one which, oh by the way, boasts no special band
coverage
restrictions.

MP3 Hz's and KBS's

2005-12-21 Thread BD
Hi,

I am in need of recording material in MP3 format at 44,100 Hz with 128 KBS.
I have Sound Forge 5.0, an older version yes but from what I seen the newer
versions don't offer much different setting options. In fact when I try to
set a 44,100 Hz MP3 at 32 bit, when I save it, it always reverts to 22,000
Hz at 16 bit for some reason. So I am looking for software method of
recording MP3's at the required 44,100 Hz and 128 KBS. Any direction would
be helpful thanks.

Brad
