Re: Scanner Help
Don I have played with the software for the pro 95 scanner and it is verry accessible. The same person makes the software for the pro 97. I do not use scanners but I have seen the software and it just has a bunch of tab controls and I think you will like it. Glad you like the scanner. - Original Message - From: djc [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2006 11:56 AM Subject: Scanner Help I just purchased a new Police scanner which is the pro-97 from Radioshack. cannot open files made with MP3 direct cut
For anyone using MP3 direct cut, I normally have no trouble splitting files and finding the list of splits the program made. But I am now running into a problem with the program having supposedly split a large file for me and I see the MPD formatted folder where the split files should be; but when I try opening this MPD folder it says Windows can't open it and wants to know what program to use. I tried going to the Web to see if I could get info on the program they suggest, but it seems to take me to a Microsoft page where you have to buy tools or updates, etc. All I want to be able to do is open this MPD file as usual and find the splits that are inside it, but I don't know how to do this or with what program. Re: cannot open files made with MP3 direct cut
That doesn't sound like an mp3directcut file. When you split an mp3 in mp3directcut, all the splits will be .mp3's. Do your splits again and pay close attention to where mp3directcut puts your files. Tim Business Wire Wednesday, April 05, 2006 Nuance Communications and Gracenote Announce Speech-Enabled Media Player Applications for Mobile Devices CTIA Wireless 2006 - Expanded Partnership Delivers Full Voice Control of Music Collections on Mobile Devices LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2006--Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), the world's leading supplier of speech and imaging solutions, and Gracenote, a global leader in digital entertainment technology, today announced a joint partnership to develop and market speech-enabled solutions for digital music collections on mobile devices. The partnership expands joint development efforts established in January 2005 to develop speech-enabled automotive entertainment solutions. The companies will demonstrate the new mobile functionality in Booth # 5044 at CTIA Wireless 2006, being held this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. The joint offering provides a rich voice-activated interface to select a song, artist or playlist on MP3-enabled mobile devices. This combined solution uses underlying speech capabilities from Nuance and Gracenote's MediaVOCS phonetic database and playlist navigation to allow users to quickly and easily find and play the music stored on their mobile devices. Nuance's best-in-class text-to-speech engine for the mobile environment then delivers verbal feedback for hands-free and eyes-free activation and selection verification. As handset manufacturers offer enhanced memory on mobile devices -- with expected capacity for thousands of songs within the next year - it is becoming increasingly difficult for consumers to navigate the large music collections stored on their mobile devices, said Marc Theeuwes, director, mobile products, Gracenote. By working together, Gracenote and Nuance are making it easy for music lovers to access their favorite songs on mobile devices through speech. Nuance's advanced natural language technology allows users to simply say 'play' and then name the song title, genre or artist, said Craig Peddie, vice president and general manager, Embedded Speech Solutions, Nuance. There is no requirement for a strict command interface that must be used in order to make the MP3 player function. Combining Nuance's advanced speech recognition technology with Gracenote's extensive database of media information will also allow people to simple say, 'Play the Boss,' and the player will use the information contained in Gracenote's database to recognize the nickname for Bruce Springsteen, and then start to play songs recorded by Bruce Springsteen. The combined Nuance and Gracenote solution allows mobile device manufacturers to quickly deploy speech recognition technology in all types of MP3-enabled phones and to pass on superior performance and usability to their customers. In addition, the solution will make it easier for consumers to manage and enjoy their mobile music collections by using voice command-and-control to: -- Navigate to all media instantly: -- Play any individual song out of a collection, just by saying its name. -- Instantly hear a new mix, such as music from specific genres, artists, albums, regions, decades, or years. -- Playlist instant new custom mixes: -- Describe any combination of qualities of the music they want to hear in natural language - such as 60s Detroit Soul to generate new mixes on the fly. -- Keep in the mood of the song currently playing by asking for More like this. -- Find information on artists and songs: -- Consumers will be able to get more information on a favorite song they've been hearing by asking, What is this? Re: Webpage so that files can be downloaded to an Ipod
Hi Dennis You don't have to do anything on your end at all, other than set up your webpage. The idea here is that the user of the iPod or other mp3 player must transfer the files themselves, you don't help them transfer it. All you do is provide the files and the rest is up to them. I will tell you though, that because of the limitations of some mp3 players, it's probably a good idea to provide the files at reasonably high quality. Some mp3 players choke on lower quality stuff, or in the case of mine, they just skip right over it. So make sure that your files are encoded at an absolute minimum of 64k bps, 44.1 KHZ. If it's got music or other sound effects, go for stereo. If it's just speech, you can go ahead and do mono. I wouldn't go any higher than 128k though unless the recording requires it. So again, the owner of the iPod must transfer the files on their own. All you do is upload the files, maybe set up a podcast feed so that when new ones come out, they'll be sent out to people automatically, and that's pretty much it. If you want to know more about podcasting, go to http://www.podcast411.com At 12:33 PM 4/9/2006, you wrote: Hello Audio Folks, I have a number of MP3 files that I want to make available for people to download from a webpage to an Ipod. Help Please with Audegy Card
Hi, I am writing again to ask for your help. If you read on below, you will get some more information about my particular situation. Anyway, I have this audegy card with 4 jacks. I can't see to get at the bass/trebble settings in control panel/volume/advanced/properties. I have the sound-blaster audegy software/drivers installed. Firstly, does anyone know the brand of audegy I have with 4 jacks? Second, how do I get access to the bass/treabble settings? Finally, is there any way of getting the front panel jacks working with the audegy card? Thanks. - Original Message - From: Richard Quan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. Pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, April 07, 2006 5:55 PM Subject: audegy and speaker setup Hi, I just installed an audio audegy sound card and have some questions about configuring it. When I was using my previous sound blaster, I could have it play through two sets of speakers, one out of the speakers jack and the other out of auxiliary I think. With this card, there are 4 jacks from what I can tell; two would be for speakers. I can only get sound out of one jack. How can I get both speaker jacks working? I have jacks on my front panel as well. Does this type of card support front panel playing? As well, under the advanced settings of my playback options, I used to be able to adjust bass and treble with the blaster. How come I can't get at that now? The only choice I have is play only digital ... or something like that. Finally, what speaker setting should I set for audegy cards. I notice quad, 5.1 7.1 etc. Which is appropriate?
