Hi again,
How do you tell audacity how to start a selection let's say at a
specific point and how to stop the selection. Does anybody find this
program useful? I normally use a program called fast edit which does cost a
little but I wouldn't mind trying out an alternative.

 Hello

I'm guessing half of you don't have the player I do, but I'll tell you
anyway. PNY vibe. Here is my problem:

When I connect the player to my computer, I hear the ding dong sound that
confirms it has been recognized. Usually, a pop-up window appears asking
me what I'd like to do. Before I tell you anything else I should tell you
that this specific player acts as a removable disk in windows. I don't get
this message; and when looking in windows explorer, I don't see the
removable disk. I tried using the add hardware wizard but that didn't help
iether. I saw 2 gb vibe, in the list of hardware, but I just can't
access its contents. I haven't changed anything, it just started happening
a few days ago. I'm using windows xp and JFW 7.0. My USB ports are all
fine, since I tested them with my epson printer and kanin scanner. Before
I finish, I might as well add that when booting up windows, if the player
is connected, windows won't boot until I've disconnected the player. But
this happened from the beginning and that's not a problem. Also, I've
tried multiple ports with no success.

 Hopefully somebody can help me.

 thanks,
 Tyler

Re: strange problem with mp3 player and computer: compatibility

2006-05-07 Thread Robin G. Plitt
If you do both these things and it still doesn't work, you might try to
uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I would be skeptical of the last option
though, because XP uses pretty standard USB drivers. It has happened to me
once though.

I think the cable would be the most likely problem. If you don't have a
spare USB Cable, try using the same cable with a different device.

Good luck,
Robin

regarding Fast Edit

2006-05-07 Thread Denny Daughters
Hi Tate and list,
Fast Edit runs about $200 US. The only thing with this program that is
kind of annoying is that you can't access how to turn stuff down or slow stuff
down because they forgot to put negative numbers in the character set. Usually
there was an edit box to type how far you wanted things to go down. The slider
isn't accessible to do this in Window-eyes. You can read about it and download
a free demo at
http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/fastedit/fastEdit.html
If you have any questions, please email me. Good luck.
