Re: recording on my thinkpad skips
Thanks David, but I think you missed the point: My problem is skipping audio while recording through the sound card. The stuff about the CD drive and mp3 files is extra info which, if related, might help anyone to diagnose. I have already implemented the cure for the slow CD drive by copying files to the hard drive as you suggested--when necessary. I do have several desktop machines of the same or earlier vintage that record without a problem; so there's no reason that this laptop shouldn't do the same. I just don't know everything about the possible settings. Howard K Traxler, Traxler Enterprises Adaptive technology sales, setup, and training since 1989. Once you have Goldwave 5.14 you can take the audio from the cd and save it on your hard drive as an mp3 file so that you don't have to deal with the issues involved reading from the cd while reading. : : The biggest problem is that I am guessing the cd drive reads at a fairly slow rate, and it cannot read fast enough to keep up with the speed at which the audio is going out. Re: nero question
Well while focused on a filter in the list, you route jaws to pc. Then left arrow until you hear a graphic number. Now by default they are all unchecked. So you press insert G and type in something like unchecked or not checked. Now if you do that on a few filters and you hear a different graphic number than the first one, then that would mean it has a different checked status. But it really isn't too hard to figure out what is checked and not checked, because as I said I think they are all unchecked by default. But don't forget even after you label them, you still need to press insert up arrow to do a say line in order to hear the graphic label. Re: recording on my thinkpad skips
One thing you want to check that definately should make a difference. Go into the audio settings in the control panel. Under the audio settings go to the recording settings, and under the advanced settings be sure to set the hardware and software performance to 100 percent. Since I do not have Windows '98 it will look a little different than in Windows XP. But, I know that there is an advanced audio settings and that performance usually was not set at 100 percent in those settings in Windows '98. If you reset it to 100 percent and apply those settings you will see considerably better recording performance. My guess is that that just may fix your problem. I remember having the same problems now that I think about it. If a person looks at those settings in Windows XP the default is 100 percent, but they were set just at the menimum in Windows '98. - Original Message - From: Howard Traxler [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2006 6:57 AM Subject: Re: recording on my thinkpad skips : Thanks David, but I think you missed the point: : My problem is skipping audio while recording through the sound card. There is no internal memory with this player. I have put a 2 gig sd card in it, but it probably would hold a 4 gig card. there is no recording feature, no resume or anything of that nature, so we can rule this player out for you. More questions about ripping music
Hi all, I have two questions about ripping music. 1. this is a follow up to one I asked a couple weeks ago. I explained that although I was getting titles to cds, this did not include the track names of the songs and they were well known songs. And I might add, that the titles that are being assigned to some of the songs don't even match. Someone explained that it depended on how things were put into the database - and this is a simplification. My question is does it matter what program you use to rip the cd, i.e. windows media player or winamp or cd ext, etc. does it matter if you're ripping to mp3 or wma? 2. I have been using windows media player to rip cds. It's version 10. things have been going well. However, I have one disk that after I tell media player to rip it, the cd is ejected. The cd is fine. It plays the songs if I close the door again. So I don't know why media player is rejecting the disk when I simply want to rip. Any ideas. Thanks. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Re: need help with sound card
then she is correct the option is different for different soundcards. open your volume control. start menu programs accessories entertainment volume control once you've gotten here press alt+p to open properties tab then change option to record and press enter it may say stereo mixer or what you here this option allows you to record anything that comes through the soundcard. - Original Message - From: Ivan Fegundez [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2006 9:02 PM Subject: Re: need help with sound card Nah, I am not talking about a tape recorder. winamp and in TV
Hi, Has anyone gotten this part of the winamp library to work? It is the area with the old tv shows; looks really exciting but I can't seem to get it working with JFW. It seems to cut out the voice. If this has already been covered, I do appologize.
