Re: xm napster?

2006-07-11 Thread Wes Derby
Hi Melissa.

I don't know if you've already gotten a response to this, but here goes...

I've been an XM subscriber for a couple years now, and naturally, was
curious about accessibility when XM Napster came out, and quite frankly,
when the initial Napster software was released for legal
downloading...Sadly, I've over all found the software pretty inaccessible.
I've found it's easiest to either illegally download my music or buy from
MSN Music or Buymusic.com...As far as XM Online, it's easier to just use
listen.xmradio.com for that.

Out of curiosity, how easy to use have you found the Inno? I'm thinking of
upgrading from a MyFi to an Inno (if they're not pulled from the market)
this coming Christmas, but wonder about accessibility as far as accessing my
stored content, whether it be from my MP3 collection or stored XM
programming. I like the fact that it will apparently let you record
multiple programs at once, whereas the MyFi only allows one at a time...It'd
be great to be recording Opie Anthony, but still be able to get maybe Tom
Petty's Burried Treasure, or something on Boneyard, or Bill Anderson's show
on America...And so on.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, for a blind user, is the Inno worth buying
at this point?

It may be according to the version of jaws or window eyes you are using. I
am using jaws 7.1 with Napster with no problems. Yes, there are times you

You can STILL set the volume levels independently, even with the wave-out

 Hi,
It depends how you've got your winamp set up. If the output plugin in
preferences plugins is set to wave output, the volumes will be the same.
 If
you switch that to direct sound output, winamp's volume is independant of
 anything.

Re: razing volume in winamp?

2006-07-11 Thread Dana S. Leslie
However, finding and setting the output device selection drop-down in the
Direct sound Output Configuration dialogue is a bit more difficult than in
the Wave-Out configuration dialogue. It requires use of the JAWS cursor, to
find the drop-down, and then routing of the PC cursor to the JAWS cursor, to
select from the drop-down. This shouldn't be a problem for experience JAWS
users, but may well be for novice users. Of course, this is only necessary
if you use a different sound card for your winamp output than your Windows
system default output device.

 hi,
The advantage of direct sound output is that you don't have to worry about
your synth going louder than winamp, so you can, say, listen to music in
 the
background. I believe that direct sound output has more configuration
options than wave. Direct sound also takes up less CPU, I think or it
 might
be the other way around. I use it exclusively.

Sample rate Question

2006-07-11 Thread Dana S. Leslie
When I rip CDs with Easy CD-DA Extractor, I select AACPlus, 128kbps and
44.1khzs, Stereo. But, when I examine the track properties dialogue in
Winamp, it reports a sample rate of 88khz. Where does this doubling come
from? Is the 44.1 figure per channel, and the track info dialogue
combining the figure for both channels?

2006-07-11 Thread Chris Skarstad
Let me confirm that this is correct. You can, in fact, set the volume
control *independent* of the software speech with the waveout plugin,
as long as you have the checkbox for volume control enabled checked.
I do it all the time here.

Re: Sample rate Question

2006-07-11 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi,
It appears from my experience that the sample rate value is doubled. I am
not sure if this is per channel or not, but that seems to be the case. You
can get a 44.1KHZ file with a bitrate of 22050. I'm not sure the technical
reason, but that's how it operates.

I see that the manual is copyrighted for 1992 I think! And yet the receiver

 Hi all

I sincerely hope this is not off topic for this list, but I don't really
know where to ask about this.

I am looking for software to control and work with my AR3000a which is
compattible and which runs on my Windows XP system. According to the AOR
website, the Searchlight software used with the ar3000A is not
 compattible
with XP. Also, the software should of course work reasonably well with
 Jaws.

 Can anyone help?

There is one of IRTI's user guides for the MZ-B100 posted in their

It is in their new format which needs to be unpacked or somehow

Another possibility for this manual is to go to
http://minidisc.org
And click on equipment, then sony, then find the model. That page will give
you specs and information, as well as a link to the PDF manual, which can be
read in Adobe reader, or if you have kurzweil converted to images and
recognized. I believe omnipage does this as well, not sure for Open Book. If
not, I'd be happy to do it for you.
