I think that I'd like that, as well! What would be great is if the defaults
on the described movies would be the described track; then, if people didn't
want to hear the descriptions, they could go down past them!

What I want is a DVD player that allows access to menues etc. Apparently
DVD's can vary in the way they are set up, so even if you have one with
descriptive video, it could be very hard operate.

Thanks Peter! I was looking at talking remotes. I heard a review on one
from Main Menu from England, but I can't remember the name of it, but I
found something about a universal talking remote control. I could send
 you
what I have about it, but it might be off topic for this list.

 Peter,

As I stated in my below email, we are investigating numerous assistive
technologies not just for DVD players, including the addition of audio.
 They
 continue
to be under development. I will keep you informed.

Here is another gadget to get excited about if we can install a screen

The Trinity DAW from the Trinity Audio Group is a self-contained audio
recording box that its maker calls the world's first professional, portable
recording
studio. It's a Linux-based handheld unit (9.5W x 6D x 1.85H) with a
6.5-inch LCD screen, 128MB of RAM, a 20GB hard disk and can record 24-bit
audio
at 96 kHz. It has a couple of quarter-inch XLR inputs and can handle phantom
power, and its fanless design keeps the noise down for even the quietest of
audio recording sessions.

Hi.

It would depend on certain things.

For example, what type of menu structure the device has
would be a factor for a start.

Also what sort of programming language was used to get it to
run off the operating system.

How much accessibility there was to the operating system,
and how much accessibility one had to any other third party
software/hardware the unit runs.

Allofmp3 registration

2006-07-22 Thread David Allen
Hello:

Well bullocks! I wondered what this allofmp3 thing was about since I noticed it
mentioned a lot here. So I chanced to check it out tonight. Neat place! Had no
trouble finding something I wanted and thought the price superb! I read their
agreement and have no issue with it. I don't mind having to sign up for an
account and all, but then I find the problem. They employ visual verification
as part of the signup process. They offer no alternative. I'm totally blind.
Their help section offers no answer. I may be able to find sighted help to get
through this, but I can't guess exactly when or how at this point. In the short
term, is there something here that I've missed?

Is Alltunes not as easy to use as Allofmp3 Explorer? Can one still use

Hi Dave!

Unfortunately not. The only way you could get around this is to get a
sighted person to help with the verification.

But once you get around it the sight is a breeze to work with - and as you
said the prices are terrific. And I can guarantee you quite a lot of the
kind of music we like.

Hi Andre:

Found a sightling to get me around the dreaded verification. We have a kind

Hey, Richard. I think Trace was just trying to figure out what the RIA was.
I think, Trace, the answer to your question is that the Recording Endustry
of America (or some such, but you get the idea) is not very happy with
allofmp3. If I can find it, I'll send along this article someone sent me
from the New York Times about all this. Imho, the recording industry treats
its musicians pretty shabbily, so I don't have much sympathy for it. Smile.

Got similar issues here. Sometimes tracks download, sometimes they
do not. At least they keep them for you til they're all downloaded.

Been on there again this afternoon, downloaded two more meatloaf tracks,
three Billy Joel and three Ciara songs, they were all really quick again
 too.

hi. I was able to log into Allofmp3.com, and I could purchase an

It was as if the download got stuck. I'll try it again later though,

Don't know how much longer the special wil last but it was priced at

It is USB standard 2 and comes in two packages the first being the
 bluetooth
stereo headset which receives signals from the included transmitter or it
can be used with some cell phones.

Hi Andre:

Found a sightling to get me around the dreaded verification. We have a kind
of unscored running agreement. When I need eyes for such things, she does
it. When she needs an answer to a tricky computer thing that seems hard to
understand, I bring it clearer. It's one of the best little arrangments I've
ever made!

Ironic to see you answering me on this since I just downloaded a track that
had me thinking of you. I first heard it on a radio show which I need to get
you tuned into. Will be in touch via Skype.

 Hi Dave!

Unfortunately not. The only way you could get around this is to get a
sighted person to help with the verification.

But once you get around it the sight is a breeze to work with - and as
 you
said the prices are terrific. And I can guarantee you quite a lot of the
 kind of music we like.

Re: New Sound Card Installation

2006-07-22 Thread Byron Stephens
If you're running windows xp, it should detect your new card automaticly,
but if it's a newer card that xp doesn't recognise, then you'll need the
driver cd that's included with said new card.

 Hello:

Well bullocks! I wondered what this allofmp3 thing was about since I
noticed it mentioned a lot here. So I chanced to check it out tonight.
Neat place! Had no trouble finding something I wanted and thought the
price superb! I read their agreement and have no issue with it. I don't
mind having to sign up for an account and all, but then I find the
problem. They employ visual verification as part of the signup process.
They offer no alternative. I'm totally blind. Their help section offers no
answer. I may be able to find sighted help to get through this, but I
can't guess exactly when or how at this point. In the short term, is there
 something here that I've missed?

 Cheers,
 Dave

Fwd: Playing DVDs

2006-07-22 Thread Steve Pattison

From: Wayne Merritt [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To: GUI Talk [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Not long ago, someone was wanting to know of software for playing
DVD's. After hearing a review of a program and trying it for myself
to see just how well it worked, I'd recommend DVD Audio Extractor.
It allows you to either play the DVD or rip the audio track to your
hard drive to play later. The address to read more about the program is:
http://www.castudio.org/dvdaudioextractor/

To hear a review of it, go to Jonathan Mosen's blog/podcast, and
look in the audio section for the program name.
www.mosenexplosion.com

As for the program, DVD Audio Extractor presents everything in a
dialog box with well labeled controls. There is a list of checkboxes
for the different titles and tracks (chapters) on the DVD in that
dialog, which you can check or uncheck. If you tab through it you
will find various buttons for playing the disc.

It's pretty cool to be able to finally play parts of a DVD that I've
wanted to play for some time, like the extras, interviews, and other
bonus material that seems to dominate DVD's these days. I've wanted
to do this for some time now, and haven't been able to even with Win
DVD. I was to an extent, but not like this.

When setting the options for ripping, you can choose to have all the
chapters/titles in a single file or separate files, and even apply a
play list for playing the files.

Enjoy,
Wayne

I believe Goldwave and Total Recorder are at least two programmes that

Re: Total Recorder 6.0 Accessability

2006-07-22 Thread David Allen
Hi Roden and list:

The trial of Total Recorder is fully functional. What sets it apart from a
registered version is the brag screen you always get when opening an
unlicensed copy, as well as the extra little noise it inserts about every
sixty seconds or so in your recordings. Once you've verified by using the
trial that it will work for your purposes, registering it is cheaper than
some solutions.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Dave
