Hi Jed:

You asked:

How many gigs does this ipod come with?
the second generation iPod shuffles typically come with one gig of flash
memory. which will give you about 250 songs give or take.

So how does this software work, do you actually install it on the ipod
 itself or what?
You install Anapod explorer on your computer, and then you use the
software
to transfer songs to your iPod via simple copy and paste operations just
like you would in windows explorer. It's very easy to use. The
software
has a lot of other features much too numerous to mention here. the best
thing you can do is just visit the website and read up on what it can
and
can't do. and that'll answer all the questions you have, and might
answer a
few you didn't know you were going to ask.

Re: Simulate stereo.

Just a suggestion here, if its a mono signal could you copy it to the
clipboard, open a new file, paste a copy of the mono file into the
left channel and then paste another copy into the right channel
applying a 100MS delay or something like that? This may be helpful.

Re: Trekstor Geman/European MP3 device

2006-12-14 Thread Michael Lang
I haven't tried MP3 players from Trekstore. AT the moment, I only like
two kinds of MP3 players: The ones for blind poeple, MileStone and
BookPort, and MP3 dictation recorders. Sanyo still makes nice ones,
although with a relatively low storage capacity. The Olympus WS-320M is
quite nice, but it is not a real USB mass storage device, because it
uses MTP and therefore only works under XP and Vista. Sony's ICD-U70 is
quite good as well. A real USB mass storage device, like the Olympus has
a built-in USb plug, can play MP3 files much faster than normal speed,
100% faster, has a very week built-in speaker and exact resume, offers
fast forward and rewind with sound. But it's five way navigation key is
relatively small and one should remove the AAA battery, if one doesn't
use it for two days or so, because like a lot of Sony voice recorders it
eats batteries fast. It has one gigabyte of built-in memory. Its
recording format is Sony propriatary. All in all, the Sony ICD-U70 is one
of my favorite MP3 players at the moment. A Sony MP3 player without any
copy protection, hard to believe, but true.

You wrote:

I recently heard a computer show about the German made Trekstor
mp3 player/recorder. It is now available in the USA. It comes in
8-12 GB and does not require any software. As usual you can use
it by copying and pasting the files to the device's drive letter
with My Computer area. Whether it's accessible: them menus I
doubt it. In Germany it has 30 percent market share. The unit
has line in. Suppourts mp3, WMA, WMA DRM, OGG. Yuo get 20 hours
playback. The battery can be bought from the company. I hear
Amazon sells it. Maybe Mike Lang knows a bit this one. Any info
is appreciated. Best to wait for the new Book Port for now. Petro

Accessible noise reduction plug-ins and more

2006-12-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Ok, I have a set of noise reduction plug-ins, EQ plug-ins,
compression plug-ins etc which I bought over a year ago, I posted
information on them to another list quite recently so I'll dig that
out if I still have it and pass it on here. These plug-ins are the
most accessible and usable I've seen and beat the pants off many of
the Sound Forge plug-ins, the flanger for example, the delay unit and
so forth so hang ten folks whilst I try to find the info for you all
so you can go and have a peak at the web site.

2006-12-14 Thread Bob Seed
Probably the best that you will be able to do is to cause a split second
delay in one of the recordings thus giving you a simulated stereo effect.
You could also phase them thus creating another effect of sorts. If the
recording is mono it is mono and there isn't much that one can do to alter
it. On the other hand if you record the song on two tracks you will get the
sound in both ears when you play it back, and by causinga split second delay
it will give you a simulated stereo effect. At least this has been my
experience. . . .

Certainly you can, set the system to standard stereo, that will do

Re: accessible ipods

2006-12-14 Thread Paul Oeser
There is no screen to see. You navigate with 1 round button. It can
go up, down, left, right and press in. You press the right edge to
go forward the left edge to go backwards in the program the top edge
to turn up volume the bottom edge to turn down volume and press in to
play or stop. A 3 way switch on the back of the iPod goes from off,
to shuffle to standard play.

2006-12-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Depends what you want I suppose, 250 sogns or thereabouts may be
enough for some people whereas people may think that 10,000 songs or
thereabouts that my Iriver holds is just far too much. I think the
Ipod Nano is 8 Gig of memory so that's about 2,000 songs.

Hi Jed:

2006-12-14 Thread Paul Oeser
I mainly use mine for books downloaded from audible.com. I got mine in 2005.

Hi Jed:

The
software
has a lot of other features much too numerous to mention here. the best
thing you can do is just visit the website and read up on what it can
and
can't do. and that'll answer all the questions you have, and might
answer a
few you didn't know you were going to ask.

the shuffle does not have a screen. you have a pause and play button with a
ring around it to adjust volume up and down and track forward and back.
there is a slide switch on the back that moves from off, normal and shuffle.

Hi,
I did this with a guitar track. I used a very minor delay. If it's too
much, it will sound more like an echo, but something like 1 MS or so,
maybe even less, will give you a stereo distinction. It takes a bit of
experimenting, and I don't remember what I did exactly, but it did work

Hi,

I've been watching this thread on and off and I don't know if the link to
the blind IPOD Portal has been posted or not. If you have an IPOD I like
the little rebuild.exe tool that you store on your player. this little tool
is handy for adding tunes without Itunes. Here's the link to the portal:

allot to be said for Adobe Audition and its Noise Reduction

 Hi,

Unfortunately Soundsoap is totally inaccessible. I found that when
 I tried
to use it myself. You could use the Sony Noise Reduction package
 instead,
though you have to pay for it.
