hi. If you're using Winamp 3, there's your problem! Winamp 3 is
*completely* inaccessible with all screenreaders. I would suggest
either going back to Winamp 2.95 which was the last stable version in
the 2.x series, or go to Winamp 5.32 which is the latest stable
version. There is a beta out there, and it does provide better media
library support with JAWS, but again it is a beta. Again, forget
about Winamp 3, it ismost definitely not recommended. Not even
sighted people liked Winamp 3 and Nullsoft discontinued it.

Re: USB headset

2007-04-09 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Jana,

Look for the following lines in your jfw.ini file:

[Synthesizers]

Synth1Name=eloq

Synth1LongName=Eloquence Software

Synth1Driver=eloq

directly below these lines, you must add a line similar to the following:

Synth1Port=C-Media Wave Device

BUT, instead of C-Media Wave Device, you must substitute the exact name of
the sound card you wish JAWS/Eloquence to use. There must be no space on either
side of the equals sign, and the spelling and case of the name of the sound
card you wish to use must be exactly the same as appears on the Audio Devices
page of the Sound and Audio Devices dialogue in Control Panel.

After you have made this change to jfw.ini, exit and restart JAWS. eloquence
will thence forward be forced to use the named sound card, even if you have USB
devices plugged in, which steal away the default output device assignment.

Good luck. Let me know off list if you have any difficulty folowing these
directions.

  Blessed Be,

When you plug in your USB headset, it makes itself the default output
device. With the headset plugged in, go to control Panel, Sound and Audio
Devices, the Audio Device tab, and manually reset your default audio
output device to the sound card driving your speakers.

If you are using JAWS, you will need to edit jfw.ini, to ensure that, each
time you reboot, JAWS will speak through your speakers, and not through
your headset. If you need to know how to do this, let us know.

Re: Winamp markers?

2007-04-09 Thread Dana S. Leslie
You can do this if you are using JAWS; it is a JAWS feature, NOT a Winamp
feature.

To place the marker, simply press M at the point you want to insert a marker.
ctrl-shift-m brings up a list of already set markers, and lets you delete some
or all of them.

But I can't seem to recall the command to bring up a list of already set
markers, so you can jump to one of them. H; That's not very useful. Can
anyone else help:

The command to bring up a list of already set time markers, so you can jump to

Again, all these time marker functions are JAWS script commands; they will not

Windows Media player 10 and 11 question

2007-04-09 Thread Larry N
Hi everyone. I've noticed that a few people on this list have reverted
to Windows Media 10 after switching to Windows Media 11. So I'm wondering...
does anyone out there see an advantage to Windows Media 11? If so, what is
it? Is its sound improved? Does 11 do anything that 10 can't do? Just
wondering because I've heard very few positives so far.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,
maybe it's time you stop picking up on peoples spelling.
My Eloquence for Jaws pronounces both spellings the same way, although I

You can do this if you are using JAWS; it is a JAWS feature, NOT a Winamp
 feature.

To place the marker, simply press M at the point you want to insert a
 marker.
ctrl-shift-m brings up a list of already set markers, and lets you delete
 some or all of them.

But I can't seem to recall the command to bring up a list of already set
markers, so you can jump to one of them. H; That's not very useful. Can

Thanks.

Larry

2007-04-09 Thread Arthur Barney
Hi Bruce,
I found that when I was using Access32, I found the
pronunciation of words was allot better, but sense I been using Eloquence, I
find that allot of words are missed pronounced.

I can't seem to get Access32 to work with Jaws620.

The difference in pronunciation is extremely subtle.I use British
Eloquence, perhaps the pronunciationis, well, more pronounced.

Re: Media Monkey

2007-04-09 Thread richard claypool
there's also a program called multi tag editer that's pretty accessable.

it will choak on some id3 tags, most of all if the tracks are done like
1-13
instead of 1 or 01

I use it to organize the stuff I download from the newsgroups.

It's not particularly speech friendly, but it will reorganize vast
tundras (horribly big and disorganized folders) of mp3's and attempt
to group them by artist, album etc.
I did get that feature to work which is nice, but I could never get it
 to work well with Jaws.

Hello,
Your exessting sound card won't do surround sound.
The Series 3 or higher will tho.
But usually, in the soundsaudio devices, you will find the settings for
volume, speakers, cd play back and others.
Your dorectional keys is how you will make the ajusments.

Tom,

While the treatise of whether or not Goldwave or Soundforge are better is
just banter, what constitutes, By The Way, any conversation about MLB Game

to be a topic that kept me deleting posts, for a few days, recently. Is
your favor with Baseball fans, rather than with Audio fans? I might be

Please explain, again, the priority here, won't you? While I understand the

understand favor with sports fans, on an audio list, at all!
